I had a good amount of pitosis that was caused from weight fluctuations throughout the course of 8 years. I have been wanting this procedure for years but have waited for the right time and being in my best shape/weight prior to the surgery. Because I live a very active lifestyle, I loved my smaller breasts but not the natural sag that has occurred over time. My goal was to remain on the smaller size and wanting a more natural overall look, not the round I have huge fake boob look. Basically, overall a more youthful look with smaller areolas.
I received many consultations from 6 different plastic surgeons to review their overall recommendations, implant size and type, procedure processes, results of previous patients that were relevant to myself, comfortability and confidence with the surgeon and staff, and lastly cost comparisons. Going into this whole experience I went with an open mind for each surgeons recommendations. I had done much research on the different types of implants, I really love the results of the anatomical memory (shape) implants vs. a round smooth or round textured, whether on a breast augmentation patient or breast lift patients. However, since the anatomical memory (shape) implants are fairly new, there is not many before/after photos of surgeons results for breast lift patients so I wasn't sure if this type of implant would be an option for me.
Throughout my search of my plastic surgeon, I was set on another surgeon that I had been to about 4 years ago and again this year that had recommended a breast lift (mastopexy) with the wise pattern (anchor) incisions for best results with Natrelle textured "gummy bear" round implant, size TBD but recommended between 320-350 cc. That was larger than I had wanted to go so I was hesitant.
A friend of mine had undergone surgery as well for a Periareolar Breast Lift (Mastopexy) with breast implants placed under the muscle via a crease incision. She and her family had highly recommended her doctor, Dr. Aldo Guerra. I decided to go for one more consultation so I could make my final decision. Immediately I booked a consultation and felt so comfortable walking into their doors. Their staff is beyond friendly and helpful. Going over all of my questions, concerns, wants and do not wants and my interest in the memory shape implants vs. a round implant. I was able to meet Dr. Guerra who was so nice, professional and his knowledge is very impressive. After looking at my breasts and talking with me about my overall preferred results he had recommended a breast lift (mastopexy) with the wise pattern (anchor) incisions for best results with the choice of Mentor textured memory round implants 315-330cc's, or Mentor textured memory shape (anatomical) implants 250 cc or 280 cc. Come to find out, Dr. Guerra was chosen out of 5 other plastic surgeons in the US. to study and be trained in Sweden on the Mentor memory implants, in particular, the memory shape implants. I was so pleasantly surprised with this information and recommendation from my friend, I knew I had found my surgeon and he was mother approved who has gone throughout this entire process with me, YAY!
Dr. Guerra went over each size and type and what result each one could provide. Given my measurements, I had 12.5 cm wide breasts, with that and my want of a smaller implant with a natural look, his best recommendation was the Mentor textured memory shape implant of 280cc. He ensured me that this would give me the best result, I was hesitant again and had a minor panic after making my decision on this implant size/type due to the lack of more before/after photos on the internet, but I knew he was confident and more than capable, so I knew I could trust him.
When time grew closer, we went over markings 3 times in which he was open to every concern and expectation that I had especially with my areola size, my areolas measured 47cm and 45cm, they were stretched and not so pretty. Dr. Guerra said he would get as close to 32-34cm as possible with out having the areola stretch with the implant, I was confident in my choice.
Finally, came surgery day. I was so excited, not nervous. Said goodbye to my saggy, deflated bubbies and headed to the surgery center. From walking into the door to being wheeled out after my procedure, it was a perfect experience. Comfortable, confident in my decision and the confidence of each staff member that was preforming my procedure.
