Scarred from subcision

Scarred Worse After Subcision

I received a subcision with a C02 laser resurfacing and had a keloid scar treated via Kenalog injection in January of 2022. I had 3 rolling acne scars on my right cheek, the keloid scar was a very small bump on my left jaw. Immediately after the procedure, I noticed a swollen spot on the acne scar that was the mildest of the 3 on my right cheek. After about 10 days I developed a hard bump where the swollen spot was. I contacted the clinic and sent photos, and they advised me to wait until my 30-day checkup. I had a fully-formed keloid scar by the time I came in. Dr. Taylor told me that the scar formed because "of the way my skin healed", and had the audacity to tell me that I "keloid easily", despite performing my keloid injection himself at the same time as the subcision procedure.

After 3 return visits and 2 steroid injections, I asked Dr. Taylor what the plan was for treating the still very apparent bump on my face. He responded that I "just need to let it heal" and in response to my discontent, he told me that "there was a risk to the procedure". He didn't go over a future treatment plan or timeline of the expected healing process or inform me of what my options were. He and his assistants were dismissive, repetitively ordered me "not to stress" when I let them know that the scarring was causing me issues in my daily life. I tried to book a follow-up, and the assistant told me she would call me that weekend. She shooed me out of the clinic and never called me.

It seems as though Dr. Taylor was not careful to consider or inform me of all the risks of the treatment for my skin type whilst refusing to discuss a future plan to treat it. I would not recommend this procedure or any with Dr. Taylor as, according to him, "there is always a risk to any procedure" and you will most definitely not be treated with consideration or respect if that risk becomes a reality.

Going through something very similar after getting subcision last month. It has been a nightmare.

Where did you have it done/what are you planning to do for treatment? I am ready to cut it out and do total scar revision... Rather have a line scar than a what looks like a permanent cyst.

I’ll message you, it’s still ongoing

thanks for your posting, always good to know.
looking at your pictures, there was no need to go in the first place... anyway, the keloid is not that bad. Sure sucks to have it now when there was nothing before, but it's not looking as bad as you think. People barely notice.

Your skin was good before. You didn’t even need subsicion IMO. You had a few ice pick scars but overall it looked smooth. Subsicion is for tethered scars. The keloid will go away. It will take a long time. Apply retin a and get laser to ablate the scar to bring it down to the level of the surrounding skin. Find a specialist who is familiar with keloid scars.

So you did a subsicion with a needle and right after he lasered you? I'm sorry to hear it went wrong
