After Rhinoplasty

Pictures Before Rhinoplasty

Since I was in sixth grade I have wanted...

Since I was in sixth grade I have wanted rhinoplasty. Back then I wanted a small little nose because I felt my nose was too large for my face. As I grew older I'm not quite sure why I never got around to doing it, but it seemed like it would be terribly expensive, painful, and I was afraid of the reactions I would receive from others. After I began having children I began thinking rhinoplasty was not what I wanted because then I would not look like my family and, most importantly, my children as they grew. I decided my nose was just something I would have to hate for the rest of my life.

Then it just dawned on me - refining my nose would not have to mean I would have to change my look and the style of my nose all together. I no longer wanted a "small" nose. I could, maybe, just smooth out the bony-ness along the bridge and balance out the tip. When I saw Dr. Furnas's website I couldn't believe how natural her patients' results were and I was excited after I had my consultation with her and decided to make the leap.

We spoke about my fear of pain, low-pain threshold, and sensitivity to general anesthesia or any pain medication. She said I might be surprised by just how little "pain" there is, and Tylenol might be all I would need when I went home, and that anesthesiologist would give me anti-nausea medication.

I was skeptical about the "pain", but she was right! I took Tylenol right away afterwards and I never felt any pain, and I'm such a baby! Took Tylenol for 2 days and then tried stopping it, and I felt good!

You put a lot of trust in your surgeon and I am so glad I chose to choose and trust Dr. Furnas. She really is an artist.

2 weeks Post-surgery the bony-ness of my nose is gone, it is nice and smooth, and the tip is already more defined and balanced in relation to rest of nose. I still look like me! I still look like my family, in fact my nose now looks like my Mom's to me - so interesting! I'm excited that it was possible to change what I did not like about my nose, but not lose my individual uniqueness. I will look like my children in some ways. That is priceless.

You put a lot of trust in your surgeon's hands, and I am so glad I chose and trusted Dr. Furnas.
