WORTH IT$599
I've always thought I had a "horsey" gummy smile - once I realized that it was even a procedure I could have I didn't hesitate to make consultations. I did my research in the area, got references, and was most comfortable going to a more high end facility with great reviews to have a positive first experience. Since a gummy smile is a "specialty" procedure (aka less common) I wanted to make sure the person doing it had experience before. I was informed a gummy smile is treated w/ botox at the top of your nasolabial folds around your nose to relax the muscle pulling your top lip upward. My lips are already full but I wanted my lips plumped to help w/ evening out my top lip, so I was torn to see if having a fuller upper lip would help with the issue alone, or do it all at once and get botox as well.
Well today was my appointment and I wen't with 1 syringe of Juvederm Plus - no botox yet. I decided to do one thing at a time. The pain was very little - I wouldn't even consider it a bee sting. I was numbed up w/ topical ointment - I'd say it was about a 2 out of 10. I took arnica tablets a few days up to the procedure and am continuing to take them to avoid bruising. I am super swollen with duck lips right now, icing constantly. Feeling really self conscious, but my bestie said she felt the same way when she had hers done. Even my fiance says they will look good (gasp!) It's definitely not a love at first sight procedure. I know that it is very swollen right now and then will take my brain some time to get used to something being different on my face. I will upload more photos when they get to their normal state.

Your lips look great. I also have a gummy smile and did the Botox first. My smile went straight across my mouth which I was not used to. Two weeks later I did the Juvederm voluma in my upper lip and love my lips now. My smile still is low but the good news is Botox only lasts a few months so next time I'm hoping we can find a happy medium. You had a great result

Thanks so much! So you feel that juvederm gave you more the look you want over Botox? Or was it that Botox made your lip too low? I am still considering Botox, but overall very happy with juvederm. I did a full syringe with a tad more in the upper lip and asked for a strong Cupids bow. I still see the pull upward of the lip especially when I laugh but it's not nearly as bad since less gums are showing.

Since I did the Botox before the Juvederm I will not know how my lips looks with just the Juvederm for another month or two. I liked my smile I just didn't like the gummy part of it, my smile doesn't look the same now which is a bummer. If I can get my smile without the gummy that would be great. I'm glad I did the Botox since it's temporary and I could see if I liked it or not.

Thanks I'm pretty happy too. Good luck if you decide to go ahead with the Botox.

Your results look so good! What was the name of the person who performed the injections?

Yep I can feel some with my tongue but they are on the inside and not visible :) and only temporary

Okay and are your lips still full or can you tell that they are going back to their normal size? Sorry for all the questions I am just interested in going to her for injections.

No worries at all. I will post an update so you can see how they currently look. They are definitely still full, I did 1 syringe. I am so used to them now that sometimes I feel they aren't any bigger, but when I look at old photos they definitely are. She had a light touch and was very proffesional. Not to mention she looks great herself. The only thing she didn't do was give info on what to do beforehand and after (no ibuprofen, no fish oils, lots of water, etc etc)... I had to do that research on my own
Thank you for sharing your experience! I think your lips look great and not at all ducky!
Are you still planning on having the Botox injections?
