Provider Review
Dr. Sean Behnam is an excellent doctor. The hair growth in only 4 & a half months has greatly exceeded my expectations. I was expecting to have only some new hair growth by this time but it has grown in extremely quickly. I have visited 3 other doctors for consultations before I received a consultation from Dr. Behnam. But after I visited Dr. Behnam, I quickly made my decision to use his services. My decision was based on experience and price. Dr. Behnam had more experience than the other doctors in terms of years and number of clients than the other doctors I visited. He also had the least expensive price. During the consultation, I was fully informed about everything I needed to know about hair loss and hair restoration. Dr Sean explained all the different options I can take. Out of all those options, I decided to go with the FUT procedure, take the Help Hair multivitamin, Help Hair Protein Shakes, and Capillus272 Hair Regrowth Laser Hat. Although it is not necessary to use the hat and take the vitamins and shakes for the FUT procedure to work, I wanted to maximize my hair growth. I scheduled my appointment for my FUT procedure a month in advance because it was the earliest date available that fit my schedule. Fortunately, a date 2 weeks earlier became available, so I was able to do the procedure only 2 weeks after my consultation. As soon as I decided to have the procedure done, I visited Dr. Behnam and purchased a Capillus272 hat and an entire year's worth of Help Hair Shakes and Multivitamins. I use the hat every other day and I take the shakes every morning and multivitamins before bed every night. When I came in for the FUT procedure, Dr. Behnam offered me breakfast but I already had eaten before I had arrived. The surgery was performed and it went well. It took from around 8:30 AM until around 5PM. There was a break for lunch and I was given options for lunch. I chose an excellent Mahi Mahi meal that delivered from across the street. Dr. Behnam and his staff did a great job throughout the entire procedure. I felt absolutely comfortable the entire time. I was given a post operation medical kit with instructions. Dr. Behnam told me to call him the night of the procedure because he wanted to ensure that I am doing okay and I was correctly following the post-op instructions. I followed the instructions completely, which included taking a few pills such as antibiotics and pain killers. The kit also included gauze, disposable pillow cases and a liquid that I was supposed to spray on my head every 20 minutes in order to reduces scabs from forming on my scalp. I really only had discomfort for maybe about an hour before I went to bed on that first night. I guess the pain medication I took at the office was wearing off, so I took the pills that was in my post-op medical kit and I went to bed. The pain felt like a throbbing where the skin on my scalp was cut and stapled back together. The pills I took before bed worked, the pain started to go away and I was able to fall asleep. To my surprise, the throbbing was completely gone when I awoke in the morning. Other than that an hour or two the night of the procedure, I had almost no pain. I had to return to the office so the doctor could remove the gauze covering the area of skin that was stapled shut. Following the procedure, I returned to the office every 2 days to receive laser treatment, which does the same as the Capillus hat but this machine in the office doesn't actually touch your head, you simply sit under it for 20 minutes. The first few weeks, it is very important to not disturb the transplanted follicles, so I couldn't wear my own laser hat. I kept my head covered and protected from the sun. After 10 days, I returned to the office to get the staples removed. Dr. Behnam recommended that I put Aquaphor on the wound prior to the staple removal in order to hydrate the scab and lubricate the staples for an easy removal. He was right, because when the 50+ staples were removed, they didn't hurt at all. The days passed and turned into weeks as I followed the post-op instructions and took the shakes and multivitamins. I also put Aquaphor on the healing wound every single day to keep the wound hydrated. It prevented the blood from clotting into scabs, which reduces the appearance of a scar. All the dried blood seemed to almost melt off effortlessly and painlessly from using Aquaphor. After a few days following the staple removal, all the dried blood was all gone and their was a straight red line where the wound was. That red line has been getting lighter, where it is currently light pink and will eventually match my scalp's skin color. The line is very thin and their are hairs growing all around it. Currently, at 4 1/2 months, I have cut my hair shorter, the hair around the scar are about 1/4 inch long and you can't even notice the scar. There is no gap in hair growth where the scar is, no one can tell the scar is even there. As for the hair growth on top of my head, it is growing extraordinarily well. I did not expect my hair to be this full in merely 4 & a half months. I feel like everything I have done, is doing something. From my understanding, the transplanted hair typically doesn't start growing for about 3 months, where the hair begins from scratch at the follicle. I observed that the hair that was originally on top of my head (not transplanted) started growing stronger and new growth from previously dormant follicles were awakened. I know this because after 2 months, there were areas, which were previously bald, that had an even amount of hair all a few millimeters long. These hairs most likely aren't the transplanted hairs because they were too long to have grown from scratch. I have also observed that I am not losing hair like I used to. Following showers, I have seen plenty of hairs on the ground or on my bath towel. But now, I do not see many hairs in the shower. Once it was the 3rd month, I believe a lot of the transplanted hairs were emerging from my scalp out of their follicles. Now that it is 4 & a half months, my hair looks absolutely fantastic. People who know that I have had the FUT procedure really have taken notice, while many people who I haven't told, have also complimented my hair. My hairline looks great. It is very natural looking. It follows my natural hairline and it is not patchy. The hair seems to be growing even. Be patient, the phrase "its like watching grass grow" is also the way you should look at hair growth. Since hair grows even slower than grass, I was really not expecting as much hair as I already have. I'm excited to see how my hair will look every month that passes. It is incredible watching the result. Now that my hair is growing in, I appear younger. It is amazing how much a receding hairline and thinning makes you appear older. But other than the appearance, I am greatly enjoying how much warmer my scalp is. The heat retention your hair allows is definitely noticeable. It is currently February, with temperature typically down to the 40s and my head isn't requiring a hat to feel comfortable. Hair definitely has a function other than appearance. Dr. Sean Behnam is a great doctor, his work is fantastic. But do not take my word for it, you have to see him for a consultation. He will answer all your questions and show you plenty of example pictures from his own clients. See for yourself, the proof is there. I can officially say I am one of them and am 100% satisfied with everything Dr. Behnam has done for me.
