WORTH IT
Dr. Kara is an angel. About six years ago, I went to a different ( not Dr. Kara ) very famous highly qualified Beverly Hills plastic surgeon who had very impressive before and after photos for lip lifts. He was on The Swan and since I'm just a little duckling, I felt sure that the results would be beautiful. I was wrong. He made the incision under the nose and completely around each alar. There was so much tension on the sutures that it left a quarter inch white pulled scar under my nose, deep indented scars around the alar and webbed scars with deep pits where the sutures were. He gave me a series of cortisone shots and dermabrasion. It helped a little. I thought that the scars would improve as time passed but they didn't. I had about 4 counsults with other Ps who said they couldn't help. Thank goodness for Realself because that's how I found Dr. Kara. He's a sweetheart. He addressed all of the concerns I had with the scarring and explained the treatment in detail, what the cost would be and how long the series of treatments would last. I felt confident with him and asked if he could start the same day. It's the first day of treatment and I CAN SEE IMPROVENT!!! The horrible Freddy Crouger webbed scarring is gone! I feel cute again instead of disfigured. If you have the same problem I do, I would highly suggest you save time and money and go directly to Dr. Kara. I'm so excited, I plan on seeing Dr. Kara for a whole list of other services he provides. I'll post before and after pics soon. I'm happy.

Thank you for sharing! I have the same thing from him! Exact same scaring... could you please share the type of laser treatment you did? I'm in Las Vegas and would like to see if I could find someone to do my series of laser treatments here if possible.

I have the same issues and will be seeing Dr. Karamanoukian in January! What was the treatment, how many, and how is your outcome today?

I'm so glad that I found Dr Kara. It's been a while since I've had the laser treatment. I think it was a series of 3. I saw improvement immediately and it improved over time. I can cover the area with powder and I feel that it's not noticeable at all.

I have the exact same scars from a lip lift procedure I had performed a year and 1/2 ago from an Atlanta plastic surgeon. It's been an agonizing recovery to say the least. Since my initial procedure, I attempted a scar revision with the same doctor, that sadly resulted in worse scarring. Due to an allergic reaction to sutures, the surgical site became infected, and resulted in terrible hypotrophic (raised) and hypo pigmented (white) scarring that migrated and became stretched and hash marked. They are very noticable and I am extremely self conscious (and obsessed) with their appearance! Since the surgery, I have spent thousands of dollars trying to improve the scars with other doctors (dermatologists and board certified plastic surgeons) that included steroid injections, V-beam lasers, and micro needling. While I found the steroid injections were very helpful with the raised scar, nothing has improved the look or texture of these scars. Could you please share exactly what your doctor did to improve the scar? I am so happy you found a PS that could help you - and would love to find the same in Atlanta!

Dr Karamanoukian mentioned my different textured white scars and he said that they contain no pores and that he would try to recreate the texture to match the surrounding skin. I think when he does the lip lift revision on me, it would eliminate all of my concerns. I'm very happy so far.
Thank you for sharing your experience with the community. I am happy that your were able to have this issue fixed.
