It's been 4 months - and not what I expected

So... I did what I was asked and its been the full 4 months for treatment on the "major" areas I wanted to see improvement (thighs and stomach). Very disappointing for the time and money I spent on this. I've seen other posts and maybe you have to be a certain person to get results, I certainly did not. I rescheduled my "official" 4 months at the physicians office due to a conflict but at this point, its just a check in for me because I do feel its been a waste of my time and money.

Maybe it's just the skin that is actually on your abdomen. I consulted with a few plastic surgeons and all said what I have in my abs is excess skin. Then only way to do it is tummy tuck.
November 9, 2015
Ugh that would suck - I'd just do the tummy tuck if that's the case / rather than this and then a tummy tuck - not enough result for the time and money :(

Keep us posted, please! Also, I would ask the same PS to do the TT and reduce the cost by what the Cool procedure cost you, since it didn't work!
November 9, 2015
I went to a Cosmetic Derm not a PS for the CS, he's a physician but not a PS. I just don't want to do a TT - invasive and long recovery time. Was just hoping that with all the working out I've been doing to get a little help. Oh well. Lesson learned. :-(

That is SOOOO discouraging. I had four treatments of VelaShape III, I was told it is a "real game changer" by the dermatologist in reply to my comment about bad results of Vela II. Well, $2400 later....no change. I just don't know why there is not more honest disclosure? Something like, "Well, it worked for one of my patients but not the next three...", would help!! Let the patient make up their minds if they want to risk the money down the drain. I also think some people's skin does not respond well to the empty void it's left, when it does work. My friend had fat taken out of her back to put into a divet left by hip replacement surgery. A year later she had a sunken in place in her back! We need to get a full disclosure about ALL of the possible side effects, not just assurances that it's going to be great. There would not be a "Real Self" website if they all went as promised!
November 12, 2015
I agree, I mean I had 10 cycles of Coolsculpting and then Vaser shape on all the treated areas because my derm said it would enhance the CS. Clearly I wasn't a good candidate, despite making sure I followed all the pre and post suggestions.

Are you sure it's not that your stomach muscles have separated? Do you have any children? I had same problem could not get rid of my weight on my stomach when I was examined I was told that my stomach muscles had separated and they need to be re-stitched back together nothing else would help
November 14, 2015
I don't have any children - just weight gain and loss, and aging. I've definitely seen others on RS who are my age or older, who have had several children and had better results - I think it just depends on if it works for you, and that may be subjective, don't know. For me - didn't work. For others - seems to be ok.

I tried Coolsculpting and sadly it did nothing! Considering what you invested I think you should go back to the Dr. and ask for some kind of compensation. They probably won't give you a refund but maybe a credit toward something else. I just felt lucky to not end up with one of those big lump/tumors that have to be cut out! I have to have this awkward conversation next week. Best of luck!
November 15, 2015
Agreed that at least I didn't end up with a lump etc. The doctor did give me Vasershape for free on all the treated areas, that didn't do anything either. When I go in for the final pics though I will bring it up. I doubt there is anything other than additional cycles they could offer me at this time and not sure I'd do that although maybe I'm one of those people who needed more than one cycle on each area?? not sure. just bummed.

The same exact thing happened to me. I spent nearly $5k and nothing. Tomorrow, I having lipo and paying only 1k for my surgeons fee plus anesthesia. Massively discounted from the original $12k I was quoted at the same time she told me cold sculpting would give me the same results.
December 4, 2015
I got offered only another free cool sculpting procedure in return for my no results and waist of time and money. Why would I put myself through it again if the first two times gave me no results whats so ever.
December 5, 2015
Yea I agree - very disappointed. I wasn't looking to substitute exercise and eating but spending all that time and money... ugh. Missy99 considered lipo.. can you let me know how yours goes?
December 4, 2015
Same boat here.
December 13, 2015
It didn't work for me either. I didn't even bother to go back for a follow up, as they were not going to refund any of the money and I certainly wasn't going to throw more down the drain
December 13, 2015
I was actually thinking I may not do the final - it was cancelled this past week again and frankly seems like a waste of time at this point
December 14, 2015
If they are going to charge you for it you may want to give it some thought. I just had lipo on my flanks and abdomen 11days ago. I wished I'd had the money that went to cool sculpting back when it came time to pay for the lipo. When you compare costs of lipo and the total you will pay for two or three cool sculpting sessions there's not much difference as far as cost. Though the recovery from lipo is a lot harder.
December 15, 2015
Thanks - no charge for it, just photos to "show the progress" and clearly none. I already paid for the CS and you're right.. I'm thinking of that now that as much as I paid for it, I'd rather have that back. Lipo might be more invasive and take longer to heal but yes, the $$ and time spent would result in more.
December 15, 2015
Well then I'd go ahead and go in and let them take the photos. Be sure to tell them you don't think this procedure is worth it for people like you.
I think cool sculpting works on some people in very certain situations but that it is simply NOT meant to be used on the variety of patients these doctors are trying to use it on!
More doctors need to be results oriented instead of profit oriented.

Continuing to watch.. and wait. (3 months thighs and inner flanks, 2 months abdomen, 1 month outer flanks)

seussmd
So back in mid June I had my inner thighs and my upper flanks Coolsculpted. July 3 I had my upper and lower abdomen done and then in August, my back flanks. Maybe I should have done them all closer together, I don't know but ... I gotta say looking at my thighs... yea not seeing anything. I am committed to waiting the full 4 months (which would take me into October/November ) but I am sure hoping to see some better results than what I've got at the moment.
This was an investment of my time as well as my money. I spent 6-8 hours at the office each time for treatments which meant being off of work. I've continued to work out and eat well. I'll update the pics in October too.

I'm hoping you get your results, but....your journey is like the one I had with Ultherapy. Lots of money and lots of pain, then WAIT for results. At two months, nothing. Four months, nothing. Nurse said, "You need to give it the full SIX months!". So, six months, nothing. One year, nothing. The longer they give you to wait, the more likely they think they will never have to hear from you again. That's what I think!!
September 24, 2015
Lots of money, lots of time, I was fortunate not to have the pain experience but looking at your comment... I am concerned that this was a waste of both. I've seen other reviews and posts where the results looked favorable but... I am noticing those are usually people who's PRE photos look like what I would want POST. They say you need at least an inch of pinchable fat but some folks getting this done I can't see where they would find an inch of fat... Anyhow, so far, not impressed. Unless something happens in the next month, I would say this was a waste of money and time and not recommend it.

Any results ?
January 30, 2016
In my opinion no - not really. Not for the time and money spent. You can see from other posts that there are some other opinions. I put the before pictures and 4 months later - and during this time I worked out 3-5 days a week and ate well. I think the results are more related to the workout than Coolsculpting. For me - it wasn't a good choice; for others it may be. I ended up just having a tummy tuck a month ago.

How was the tummy tuck? Pain wise and cost wise?
January 31, 2016
the first 3 days are the worst - and it gets better. There is swelling and sleep and all kinds of things but I'm hopeful. Cost wise - I combined it with a BL so I only paid one anesthesia fee and surgery center fee, cut the cost tremendously. Honestly for what I paid for the CS it would have paid for the BL . Everyone has preferences - and what works for them.

Thank you so much ! Just to have an idea what's the cost of a tummy tuck? Which other body parts did you do? I'm debating because I haven't had kids yet if I should even do a tummy tuck yet. I'm 32 years old . Had lipo so far but after a year my fat came back partially so that's why I looked into coolsculpting

Depends on where you are and who you go with, get a few consults and ask alot of questions.
April 29, 2016
don't beat yourself up.The MD should have advised a different route.I think surgery is best
April 29, 2016
I totally agree with that.

Two month update

seussmd
Had my follow up - it's been almost 3 months for thighs and flanks and two months for abdomen . I'm not real thrilled so far - especially since that means I'm supposedly half way there and with no difference ... I'm thinking this wasn't worth it. Unless something drastic happens then this was not a good investment

Hmm I'm sorry thus didn't work out as planned! Must be aggravating with the time and expense and of course pain and discomfort.....
August 30, 2015
No pain, minimal discomfort with all of it but the rear flanks (last 2) but ... the time and the money? yea.. $5K and spending full days getting treatment. That hurts. I could have used that money elsewhere for sure. I am still working out, I eat healthy 85% of the time so I hoped that I would see SOME change 2 months in. Still keeping my fingers crossed for a miracle. I'll post an update in 30 days, and another in another 30.
Doc is going to do Vasershape for me next week on all the treated areas since I'm unhappy so far. I'll post how that goes too.
September 4, 2015
I had VelaShape done on my legs a couple of years ago and actually lost too much fat too fast, and the skin didn't catch up and sagged. So, if this is a slower method that offers more gradual results, that could be a good thing.
September 24, 2015
I got nothing from coolsculping and enough time has passed. I was too a great candidate being only 114lb with only fat around my mid area due to menopause. I really feel that doctors are promising more than this procedure can deliver.
August 29, 2015
I see results - the abdomen and flanks look smaller.
September 4, 2015
Yea? I guess I'm more critical - thank you for saying that - i am going to continue to update. Doctor did vasershape yesterday on all the treated areas - will put another review and pics. She said my tummy looked smaller
September 4, 2015
That is really too bad. I was thinking about this procedure for my flanks, but two-three months with no results does not sound encouraging. I sure hope the doctor gives you another session at no charge. After all of that pain and discomfort and a lot of $$$...you clearly deserve some results!!
September 6, 2015
Someone said they see it - he did give me free vasershape last week - I'll see how it goes over the next two months
September 6, 2015
I'm not familiar with Vasershape, is it radio frequency like VelaShape? Treatments for Vela III are very expensive, and it takes at least four to see any results at all, and by then you have a significant investment in a process that is a "maybe".

Hi there,

Vaser Shape is an FDA approved procedure.  Here's a Doctor Q&A that I hope is helpful in explaining the pros and cons of Vaser Shape.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

September 7, 2015
Thanks Gina! I wasn't sure how to explain it. Think with most things it may take a few to see what you want - I'm not giving up yet....:-)

True
April 29, 2016
I wish they would do away with cool sculpting in most cases,it doesn't work or it causes other problems.I think most people need a tummy tuck instead to get the results they want.I think it is only good for people with a small amount of fat.
