Finally getting the results I want. I've spent over 15k on trying to fix my acne scars with ematrix lasers, peels, and micro derm. Nothing really helped much, I finally went on accutane last year and my face totally cleared up! Not one breakout! I wish I tried it earlier in life instead of in my 30s. I had to wait an entire year before I could do any lasers or procedures on my face. Finally a year to the day I scheduled my first subcision. I did a subcision procedure followed by picosure laser. My results are amazing after just the first and I'm really happy with it. I went for my second dual procedure last week and I can already see a major difference. I'm scheduled for another subcision+picosure laser in 5 weeks followed by 3 picosure lasers 6weeks apart.

Yes, after one treatment. Still healing from my second treatment. I will absolutely post more progress pics after I heal a little bit more.

Did Dr. Ting instruct you to wait an ENTIRE year after Accutane to have Subcision & Picosure Laser procedure? We were told to wait 6 months. Were the procedures performed by Dr. Ting or his PA?

Dr. Ting did not tell me to wait. The dermatologist that prescribed the Accutane said it would be best to wait a full year after discontinuing the medication so that my skin could heal better for the cosmetic procedures. I had the Dr. Preform the subcision not his PA.

Is the dermatologist who prescribed the Accutane and told you to wait one year in practice at California Dermatology in San Ramon, CA? My daughter had CO2 laser performed by the PA after 6 months after stopping Accutane. The CO2 laser procedure severely burned her face and was extremely painful and required weeks of healing. The CO2 has left grading (waffle stamped on cheeks) a year later. Scars are much worse. Dr. Ting assured us that the PA had performed numerous CO2 laser procedures, in fact we were told that she had performed more.

My regular derm at kaiser not Dr. Ting. I also did a lot of reading online about Accutane aftercare. Ablative lasers like CO2 should not be done until 12 months after being off Accutane b/c the skin is so thin and won't heal as well. This I read from my own research and private dermatologist at Kaiser.

The procedure was done in 2015. I researched as well, but unfortunately did not get consultation or opinion from other dermatologists. We had complete faith in the dermatologist and his PA (especially based on CA their reviews). I regret not getting references from previous patients who had CO2 performed after Accutane for acne scars.

I don't recommend it. Really did not help her scars and may have made them more visible. It is an intense procedure taking layers off face and it is painful. Recuperation is 10 days and you must stay out of the sun at all times. It was of waste of money and sadly has damaged her face. Hope & pray that collagen rebuilds and repairs over time. I am researching options without pain.

How long and what dose of accutane was your daughter taking?
What about the time frame between stopping accutane and laser? (i think you said 6 months)
and what laser treatment was it. I know that there are many lasers and i've learned there are differences between fractional co2 and fully ablative co2. It sounds like your daughter underwent fully ablative co2? How long has it been since the laser?
sorry for all of the questions i just want to make sure i understand because i'm interested in laser.

No fillers, I did a laser (picosure) 20 min after the subcision. The laser swells your face allowing the collegen to fill in.

Been there done that. Subcision and filler are by far the best treatments for acne scars. I'm finished with laser alltogether.

Glad you are getting results. I know how debilitating it can be.

I've had three subcision treatments within one year. (Aug 2016/ Jan 2017/ July 2017). No fillers but was interested in filler for my one year follow up.

However, a friend of mine who is completing his residency to become a dermatologist always tells me to go with laser. I've done research and I wanted to ask my doctor about fully ablative co2.
What laser did you have or why are you finished with laser and opting with subcision+filler . I'd like to know what you have to say since I'm interested in moving on from subcision to fully ablative co2 laser. Thank you for your post.

What exactly is subcision? I've been doing the Pico Laser too for some discoloration and scars but I have some temporary cortisone indents what I want to fill in faster.. sort curious since oh have such great results in a short time!

Subcision is short for subcutaneous incision. A needle is inserted underneath the skin and swiped in a fanning motion to break up the tethering to the scars. It is to release the bands holding the scars down in hopes that the collagen will repair itself and raise the scar.
