First Tattoo, Been Regretting It Since my Second Session - San Jose, CA

So this is my first tattoo, and as you can see I went all out.. I'm not sure what made me want a full sleeve, but now I am regretting it. Maybe because my boyfriend has a sleeve and it looks nice on him. I'm not used to having tattoos on me and I'm still not comfortable with it. Being 18, I made a stupid decision that was done on impulse. It took me two session to realize that this tattoo is not for me. I am now 19, and I still cover it by wearing long sleeve shirts, cardigans, and sweatshirts. It has brought my self esteem down and I get depressed when I look at it. I miss having my arm blank and nothing on it haha. I'm looking into getting it lasered off, but I'm nervous to call and make an appointment. My boyfriend also doesn't support tattoo removal and feels like I will ruin my skin if I do it. These tattoos are from my favorite movies, but it did not come out how I expected it to. I feel like it is pieced on and doesn't flow together like a sleeve should. Also, I made the mistake to color it in. I don't like how I can't see my skin and how it will be that color forever. My skin reacted to the green and some of the blue ink. I think it is scared and my tattoo becomes very itchy. My plan is to lighten my outline that starts from my shoulder, all the way down to my forearm. I know that my tattoo won't be completely erased, so I will get a cover up of something I know I will want in the future. It would be nice to have no tattoos on my arms at all, but I know you will still be able to see some of the previous tattoo. I don't think I will try to remove the tattoos that are colored in because I feel like blue, green, and red will be hard to get off of my skin. Also, that it is scared, I'm worried on how it will come out. I have found a place where I want to get it removed and have researched and read a lot of stories on here. I'm just really nervous to call and set up a date. It would be nice to hear some feedback.

hi, i'm trying to fade a coloured tattoo for a cover up too. mine is a lot denser than yours so you're already better off! i talked to a few artists about covering up my tattoo in the future, and they all encouraged me to fade it as much as possible because it opens up so much more options for your cover up, and the cover up doesn't have to be as dense and look as much like a cover up job. i have greens and blues too, and my doctor is working on that with an Alexandrite laser. the green is fading a little bit (i've only had one treatment), so i think that if you can find a place with the Alexandrite or Picosure laser you can fade it!

oh and also, red is supposedly the second easiest colour to fade after black and uses the same laser as the black (the Nd Yag comes with two wavelengths) so you can definitely fade that..

Yeah, I want to be able to get the tattoo that I want and not have to worry about the artist trying to figure out how to cover the tattoo that I have now. How is the Alexandrite laser working for your green and blues? The place that I will be going to only has the Q switched Nd: YAG laser, so that is what will be used on my tattoo. I heard the YAG laser works well with black ink tattoos but not sure how it will be with the green, blue, and orange that I have on me.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, sorry you are not happy with your sleeve. Fading for a cover up should be no problem at all, I did that and my tattoo was much much darker..my review is Blackberry11
Green is a tougher color to remove, I had some green, it did actually respond pretty good to the AlexTriVantage.

I'm a little bit more relieved that you said fading for a cover up should be no problem. It's a good thing I realized that this tattoo was not for me and only had a little bit of it colored in. I saw your review and yours looks really good! The place that I will be going to will use the Q Switch Nd: YAG laser on my tattoo. Also, thank you for the links. Looking at them has helped me.

My tattoo had only black and has been itchy like FOREVER while healing. It never completely ceased until today, two weeks after my first laser session. I did scar too, at places, but I feel like I would prefer a slightly raised normal color scarred skin to a colored scarred skin. I think if you would really prefer having your arm without tattoos, you should start a removal if you can afford it. It will make you feel better to start doing something about it. And then, you wait and see what results you get. Maybe you will react really good and be able to achieve a nearly full removal that will satisfy you. If not, then, you can look into cover-ups. I decided to start the process and aim for full removal, and if it doesn't seem possible one year from now, after a few treatments, I'll reexamine my expectations and goal. But for now, I would just prefer to avoid another tattoo. Take some time to really examine how you feel about it. I haven't seen much people who didn't like their tattoo starting to suddenly love them though, so take a break to really look at how you feel about that and then, make decisions accordingly.

I'm finally going to start my removal on July 19th. I was surprised that it is not as expensive as most places. They will be using the Q switched Nd: YAG laser on my tattoo. I hope my skin will react good but my skin is pretty sensitive so I may blister. If they can fade it enough I will get a cover up.

Don't get a cover up if you really don't want any tattoos, or you'll just end up hating the cover up. Even if you're left with a shadow, wait a few years and some new technology will come along that can get rid of a shadow much easier than a cover up.

SO I finally got the courage to call and set up an appointment. My appointment is at New Skin Adult Tattoo Removal and is on July 19th at 2:50pm. I'm glad I finally called and was able to talk and be reassured that everyone is nervous their first time. I'm going to be doing three minutes for $80 and they also have 5 minutes for $100. I decided to go with 3 minutes just so I can get the feel of how it is going to be. I'm excited to start my journey and sharing pictures with you all :)

That place's name seems to imply that there is a New Skin 'Kid' Tattoo Removal also. I hope not, it might be crawling with obnoxious mom and kid combos just like baby Gap... :P I'm done joking and I'm really glad you chose to look into removal. You need to do what you want to do for you and not worry about what other people say/think. All the best and keep us updated!

First session done January 10th, 2015

So I know I was supposed to have my first session done in July, but things came up. I finally got the courage this year and the place I went to was able to fit me in January 10th around 2. I forgot to take pictures and i'm updating about a week and a half late so this might end up being a long post! I didn't numb or ice my arm and was able to sit through the whole 3 mins. I thought it would have been a lot more painful, but it was tolerable. Right after the session my arm became very red and it swelled up pretty bad. It took about 3-4 days for the redness and puffiness to go down. It did bruise a little and I had very small blisters. After a week my arm started to look dry and flaky. I apply vitamin e oil because it really helps soothe my skin and keeps me from scratching. Also, my arm has been extremely itchy!!! It has almost been about 2 weeks and the healing process really sucks :( the pictures down below were taken Jan 22 and my arm has swelled and looks red again. Is that normal? I also noticed little bit of fading near my elbow.

Seems like ur lines responded very well to the treatment, since lines usually is harder to handle. Cheers

Congrats on your 1st treatment! The healing sounds pretty much as you describe, however if you are ever concerned follow up with your doctor.. I notice some fading in the green already, looking great! When will you go for your 2nd session?

Thank you! I think I will follow up with my doctor. I'm starting to get bumps around certain areas that might be hives? or tiny water blisters.. My second session is scheduled for February 14th. I might want to do smaller areas at a time now since my whole arm looks scary being swollen!

I bet it does! Breaking the treatments up will be easier on you. Remember to drink lots of water and eat your fruits and veggies ;) Hope you are doing well!

Are you getting the whole sleeve removed?
User Avatar

I originally wanted to, but I feel that the areas that have been colored in won't be easy to remove. Right now I just want to lighten up my shoulder all the way to my forearm so I can cover it up with a tattoo that I know for sure I will want.
