My Miradry technician classified me as having...

My Miradry technician classified me as having border-line hyperhydrosis. My armpits do not sweat when I am resting, but they do sweat profusely when it's hot and/or during semi-stressful situations. Unfortunately, in my line of work, that means my armpits sweat almost every day. To avoid major embarrassment, I absolutely must wear dark colors that do not show sweat stains. Miradry sounded like a dream come true when I first learned about it. After reading up on Miradry and all the positive reviews, I did not hesitate to schedule the procedure. Here's a breakdown of my experience with the procedure and most importantly, the results:

My Miradry consultation: My Miradry technician told me that because I have 'border-line' hyperhidrosis (based on a short survey she conducted), I may get away with one treatment, but it's possible that I will need two. She said that with the first treatment at level 5, sweat will be reduced by up to 40%. While that's only half of the 80% that I read about on the Miradry website, I figured 40% is better than nothing.

My Miradry procedure: The procedure was not as bad as I imagined. The numbing part was the most painful, but once the numbing set in the rest of the procedure was painless.

The first 2 weeks: As expected, I was swollen, bruised, and had lumps like many of the reviews on this site says. Most of the pain and swelling subsided within a week. I was sweat and odor-free those first two weeks and was very hopeful that this procedure worked. I even started day-dreaming about buying a new wardrobe full of colors! However, my Miradry technician said that some sweating may return after the first two weeks and to wait until the 3 month mark for to gauge the 'new baseline....so I waited.

3 months later: I am past the 3-month mark now and as I sit here writing this review, my armpits are dripping in sweat. Yes, it is a hot October in Southern CA, but even with deodorant on, I am sweating like I did before my procedure. Wow, what a disappointment! I started noticing the sweat return 2 weeks after the procedure. The sweat returned slowly, so there was a little sweat at first. Then as the weeks went on, I noticed more and more sweat returned. I kept hoping that at some point, it won't get so bad and soak through my shirts like it used to, but by the one month mark, I was soaking through my shirt. And now at almost 4 months, I am back to wearing black everyday.

Miradry promised permanent sweat reduction, and it didn't help me at all, not even 1%. It worked for so many people according to the reviews, but not me...why? How could a second procedure help when the first one did nothing? If you've read my review to this point, I would love to hear any thoughts and suggestions that you have.

Overall rating

This review is for Briana Wischnack, who works in Dr. Ross's office. She performed my Miradry procedure 4 months ago. This procedure did not work for me. Four months later, I am still experiencing 100% of the armpit sweating I had before the procedure (You can read my review here: https://www.realself.com/review/san-diego-months-after-miradry-improvement?review_id=460740). The one star rating, however, is not for the ineffective procedure but for the lack of response from Briana after the procedure. I spoke with Briana's assistant 3 months after my procedure to discuss why the procedure did not work for me and what my options may be. 3 months is the recommended wait period before accessing the new sweat baseline. The assistant told me that she would discuss the issue with Briana and call me back. Well, that conversation was on October 19th (27 days ago) and I have not received a call back. I called 2 more times and left a message with their receptionist...and yet nothing. I feel like I'm left in the dust. Briana was extremely helpful and proactive before and during the procedure, but lack of care and professionalism after the procedure is truly a disappointment. This speaks volumes to the lack of care and integrity of a practitioner.
