I'm fortunate to look young for my age, but over the last 8 years have noticed an increasing amount of fat under my chin. This became very apparent when sitting on the sofa watching TV or reading and becoming aware that sweat would occur under my chin and I could grab chin I never had before. While some of this is due to being about 20lbs heavier than I'd like, I believe some of it is just due to the usual affect gravity has on an aging body. I'm very excited for this procedure this coming Monday. Pictures are forthcoming.

Wondering if you considered or discussed Kybella or Cool Sculpting with your Doctor prior to Lipo?

Hello...my doctor mentioned it but I had pretty much decided to go ahead with the chin lipo prior to my consultation. From what I've read on here, very few seem pleased with the results.

Thanks for the reply. Lipo seems like my best option too. Also, I'd prefer to have just one procedure. Thanks again!

Pre-Op Pics

One thing I've noticed is that not many men have put up their pics or shared their stories so I'm happy to do so, especially for us older guys.

About 5 days before the surgery, I went in for a pre-op visit. During that appointment I met with the nurse who went over pre- and post- surgery procedures. I also met with Dr. Umansky who described more fully what would happen and give me a chance to address questions. Probably my biggest concern has been just how effective the procedure would be, particularly in my desire to rid of the fat in the chin as well as some of the surrounding neck. This was never anything that bothered me up until few years ago when gravity had it's pull. The doctor assured me he planned to take fat from both the chin as well as under the jaw to create a more define jaw line. He also told me he wouldn't have recommended the procedure if he didn't think it would achieve the result I was looking for. I felt assured when leaving the appointment.

These pics were taken the morning prior to the surgery. I've tried to show various views of the neck and chin. The few hours leading up to the surgery I was excited and nervous, and found myself counting down the hours all weekend long.

What I meant to say above is that NOT many men post their experiences here so I hope my account will be helpful to some other men considering this procedure.

Thank you.

Thanks for the confidence to post. I'm 40 year old male thinking about getting it done. I'm maybe 15 lbs over weight for my height but the chin is hereditary.

I'm very pleased with the results and I'd recommend it to anyone considering it to discuss options with a PS.

Were you sleeping during the procedure? I saw they can do it either while awake or sleeping

I was completely under. The procedure would cost me about $400 less if I had done local. Cost varies depending on what part of the country you are in.

Post Surgery - Day 2

When I got to my appointment I was taken back to a room to have last minute discussions with the nurse who again review my post-op list. I then met with Dr. Umansky who came in and drew on my face the areas for fat removal. Finally, since I went under general anesthesia for the procedure, I met with the anesthesiologist as well who described in detail the process. I have to say I really liked going under completely. It seems like only a minute passes before you wake up in the recovery room, and other than the prep done inside the surgical room, I have no recollection of the actual procedure.

Below are pics from day 2 and as you can see I've not yet showered so the lines are still on my face.
