Great bedside manner, listens, and explains well. Her entire staff (CB, Gloria, Nurse, and front desk Karina) are all wonderful. During procedure, her nurse applied pressure as doc injected and we chatted away (this helped me not focus on the actual injections, which did not hurt at all BTW). Not rating the aftercare as this has not taking place (I wrote the review less than 24 hours after the doc appt).

I hope it improved with time.
Thank you! I did give it some time and it improved on its own. Thank goodness.
What a crazy thing to have happened. I'm glad it got better! Despite this, were you eventually please with the results?

Eye Bag due to Cheek Voluma

Had a second syringe as recommended 2 1/2 weeks ago to cheeks and it looks like it's settled in the area under my eye...on the right side. Gradually, the thin skin under my eye began to get dry and irritated as in with a scabby patch which continued to grow and become more irritated and became more and more puffy. Of course, it's the weekend so have to wait 'til Monday to call to request to be seen. These injections were painful in comparison to no pain with the first set and it felt that the voluma was high on the right side close to my eye but trusted Dr. Finder. Will continue posting updates.

Hi there. We've chatted before re: voluma. I'm so sorry to see what's happened. Was it injected very close to your eye?
Not too close but perhaps close enough for the voluma to have moved up as it settled (if that makes any sense). It felt a little high as I walked out of the office. It didn't bother me and days letter, it felt and looked okay. But now 2 1/2 weeks later...this is happening. In reading others' reviews, this does seem to be a side effect so trying to assess what's going to happen to me and keeping my fingers crossed. This morning, I iced and used coconut oil and the swelling has gone down significantly but it's still there.
Thank you for reaching out again. Feels a little scary.
Later* (not letter)
I totally understand how you must be feeling. Please update on what doc says & sleep on any decisions you make - don't make them in the doc's chair - you can always seek advice on here too!

After reading all the reviews and doc Q&As and...

After reading all the reviews and doc Q&As and having 2 derm consults, I made the decision to go for it. Having read all the not-so-great results and side effects had made me a little nervous and the stories of too much voluma also scared me but everyday as I looked at my sudden aging in the mirror, particularly with my more noticeable nasolabial smile lines, I knew I just needed to take a chance. I didn't have smile lines when I wasn't smiling and now they were there all the time. Ugh. Initially, I thought I just needed filler in my smile lines but Dr. Finder gently educated me and explained otherwise. She recommended a conservative approach and I had 1 syringe split b/w my cheeks with the objective of lifting my cheeks due to a bit of volume loss and therefore minimizing my smile lines while still allowing for the natural folds. My face is also asymmetrical so she split the syringe accordingly to add more on the one side that needed it more. I had it done yesterday ahead of the long 4-day holiday weekend (just in case)...and the immediate results were wonderful! No swelling, no bruising, no issues. No one has noticed that I got "done" as the change was perfectly subtle. She emphasized, "give it a few weeks and see if you're happy with the results; you can always do a little more," and that is the exact approach I wanted.

Can I ask if your smile has changed? In the sense of face looking fatter?
No, my face nor smile look fatter. The voluma only replaced the natural volume of my cheeks that had diminished. If you get too much voluma, then I imagine it could maybe make people's faces look unnatural and fat or too plump especially on the cheek bone areas.
Thanks for replying. I asked because I had 1ml divided between both cheeks & my smile has altered significantly in that my face looks fat! My smile was much better before although my face now looks better at rest. I was wondering if I need another ml divided between other areas such as temples & jaw to even out everything or a bit more high above the cheeks. What do you think?
Did you stick with the same as me or did you have more?
Just been looking at your pictures- you've had an excellent result.
Where was the voluma placed? Maybe that affected your overall look? Mine was primarily placed in the high cheekbone areas, and a minimal amount just under at the mid face.
I think I need more than the 1 syringe but maybe not another half in each cheek. Not sure. I'm going to ask for 1/4 more in each cheek and to save the other half for later, which many dermatologists do for their patients.
Thank you. My nasolabial smile lines are still there and actually, on one side, the smile line looks deeper when I smile, which is odd. My coworker pointed it out.
I'm not a hundred percent sure but it might have been below / on mid cheekbone . I was delighted with the result until I saw photos of me smiling! I'm reluctant to have much more in cheek area but maybe it's what's needed higher up on the cheekbone / around the temples to counteract the chubby cheeks! I would definitely like to try a v small amount in the temple/ jawline area but I'm unsure if it would address my smile.
I'm guessing that with certain face shapes using a conservative amount you can get roundness / plumpness with little definition.
I think a lot of docs go for the "Apple" face look which does create bigger/higher cheeks especially when smiling. I'd talk to your doc to talk about your concerns, or see another doc.

After more reading and seeing my deeper smile line after the voluma, I'm going to inquire about juvederm.
I think it is my face shape/smile ! I'm glad I didn't go for 2 syringes likes some places advised.
I would be v conservative with juvederm for nasolabial area - I've tried it a few times.
Maybe 1/2 a syringe in each nasolabial area? Thank you for your suggestion!
Thanks for your replies!
Maybe less and not right to the top of the lines
