WORTH IT
Since I was young I have never been happy with my recessed chin and lack of facial balance. I was made fun of as a child and teenager for my side profile. I have always felt that I was relatively attractive but that my lack of chin was holding me back. I always wondered if just chin and neck liposuction would be enough but after consulting with my surgeon, we decided that I would need a chin implant. I knew genioplasty was an option and my mother has had the surgery done but it was too invasive for me and it just wasn't something I wanted to go through with.
On March 2nd I had a chin implant placed as well as liposuction of the chin and neck. My implant has small arms that extend along my jaw and it was inserted through the mouth and stitched with dissolvable sutures. My doctor tried a few different sizes and ultimately went with the size 3 implant which is a size large I believe.
-The first 4 hours after surgery were the hardest because I was in a lot of pain and didn't have any pain meds in my system. Once I got on top of pain meds, it was all very manageable.
Day 2- I felt very swollen and obviously sore but I was able to drink soup and broth through a straw. I slept most of the day.
Day 3- I had my headwrap and my bandages removed. Honestly the worst pain I had experienced so far was getting my bandages taken off. They use sticky medical tape and it felt like it fused to my skin. I would highly recommend taking pain meds before going in to get bandages taken off. My post-op instructions mentioned to do so but I was feeling well enough that I thought I didn't need them.
Today I am 6 days post op and I have very little pain. I do have quite a bit of numbness from my lower lip, down to my neck. The only bruising I experienced was underneath my chin from the liposuction I would assume. My sutures are healing well and I just used a syringe with warm salt water twice a day to rinse the incision.

You look fantastic!!! I had a revision done on my nose 2 years ago. The doctor asked if I wanted to balance my profile with a chin implant. I was hesitant as I too worried about looking masculine. Omg, best thing I ever did! It did elongate my face a tad, but holy smokes it looks great! He went with a large implant. I’m no longer worried about my profile. I did bruise bad, but thankfully I healed great and I’m still over the moon with the results. Again, you look beautiful!

When I was researching online and looking at before and after pictures, I felt like 85% of people that had chin implants also had rhinoplasty. I’ve never liked my nose from the side but I like it from the front. Now that I’ve had my chin done, I’m sort of wishing I had my nose done too. But thank you for your kind words! I’m excited to see my final result.

All day I was having chest pain but I assumed it was from a wrap I have to wear around my abdomen (I also had lipo) As the day went on it got worse so I called my doctor. He came to my home to check me out and everything looked ok but he advised me to go to the ER to be further evaluated. I spent about 5 hours in the ER and after multiple tests, they determined that the very lower portion of my lungs had collapsed and that could be the cause of the chest pain. Its nothing serious and it will reslove on its own but no fun! Honestly the most pain I have experienced has been with the liposuction areas rather than the actual implant. Otherwise I am healing nicely and I am starting to like my implant results more and more.
The numbness in my lower lip has made it very difficult to eat normally. If anyone out there has experienced this, do you have any input? How long does it last?

From what I see you’ve got a much better form that helped the angles of the face.

Yes! Totally agree. I love it :)

Wow!! Incredible results. ! Do you still feel numbness in your chin? And what type of implant did you go for?
March 14, 2018
Yes I still have numbness. I am getting those shocking and stinging feelings in my chin which I've read is a good sign that sensation is returning. I am not sure what type of implant was placed other than it was silicone and it was a size large. Thanks for your comment :)
