Nervous, Should I Do It? - Salt Lake City, UT

Looking for advise as I'm terrified. I have it...

Looking for advise as I'm terrified. I have it scheduled for later this month depending on insurance if they approve it. I'm currently a 34DDD, cannot find a bra that fits right, dr said it's possible it's still too small of a bra. He sent to the insurance a suggestion of about 300 grams to be removed, which puts it roughly a B-C cup. Husband is a boob guy and he's a big upset that I want to 'take that away from him' and he's concerned that they will be lopsided etc. The doctor has been doing it for 25+ years and said that he's rarely had to go back in to fix something. Suggestions/advice. Anything you would do differently if you did it again, or knew originally?

Sounds expensive for a reduction lift in Salt Lake

You may want to go to Nordstrom to be fitted properly, they have the best selection of bras in unusual cup sizes. I though I was a 34 DDD but it turns out I was a 32G made a big difference in the fit

I actually got the 34DDD from nordstrom $70 later and kills. As for the cost, that is the estimate from the doctor I seen yesterday.

I'd check around if I were you. I had a consult recently and it was around $6000.00. Take the bra back to Nordstom, have the refit you.

I thought I was a 34DDD as well but ps said I was a cup bigger cuz bras were still too tight. My ps removed 530 and 565g and I am now a 34C at 3 weeks post op. I really don't think 300g will make u a B cup. You shouldn't worry. There is a bra size calculator on my review and you can also look at my before and after for comparison. My hubby is a boob guy too and was nervous about it until he met the new girls. He is in love with the new perky ones.

Would you recommend it to someone to do it? The doctor thinks maybe the bra's aren't fitting because I'm an F. All I know is he suggested 300 grams to the insurance but they will look at the pictures and dictate the amount of grams. I could post a picture of mine up here too. He's way nervous which makes me sad. Did you experience a lot of pain after? Is the estimated a week out of it pretty accurate?

You should probably consult other surgeons if you think yours is making you nervous. He should be confident and reassuring. I would recommend a reduction to anyone. I love my new size. The pain wasn't a big deal. It felt more like pulling/tightness than actual severe pain. I was off the pain meds after 2 days and just taking Tylenol occasionally. One week was more than enough for me but others have needed more time. I had surgery on Tuesday and went to the zoo on Friday and was back at work the following Tuesday. I did take that wednesday off cuz I felt tired but I've been good since. Just a few zingers here and there cuz the nerves are firing up. You should not be afraid you will love the result. I promise.

Second Opinion today

User Avatar

Went to another doctor, this one does more reductions/enlargements to reconstruct or match after cancer. he said that he thinks the insurance would suggest 360 grams to take from each and then handed me a 370 gram implant, once he handed it to me he said he feels that it would make what is left too small for my frame/size. So now I'm really unsure what to do. I have 34 DDD and the first doctor suggested 300 grams and estimated it would be a B-C after.

Having issues getting the doctor to actually get the papers to the insurance, they said they faxed them twice and insurance hasn't gotten them either time.... And in the meantime I'm getting more confused and nervous and less likely to do it and just deal with it. The doctor today said it's possible they will still grow, I've gained at least 1 cup size every year for 4 years. I started dating my husband 4 years ago as a B, been a DDD for about 6 months or a bit longer. =/ Now what, a third opinion just so I have 2-1 opinions?

Hi, I am just wondering who gave you the second opinion? I think it's a little strange to remove your breast tissue to an implant and I've heard that you have to redo the surgery every 15 years if you get implants. Can you explain to me why they want to reduce your breast tissue and add an implant?

I'm looking at a reduction not implants I need the weight OFF not back in, he handed me the implant to show me the weight they would remove in my reduction. He basically told me to wait on it because the concern of my chiropractor isn't happening yet. The second opinion was Robert Ferguson Jr at the Murray hospital.

Oh that makes sense now. Thank you for the clarification.

The implant was only 10 grams more then he thinks the insurance would say and he thinks it will be too small on me but if they do any less it would then be cosmetic and I would pay out of pocket. And you were right he said between 5-6k. So I really dont know what to do at this point.

Well you can always get another opinion. I just wouldn't do anything until you feel completely comfortable. I know what you are saying about feeling hunched over from the weight of your breasts. If suggest wearing a shoulder brace that helps your posture. I bought one iff of amazon and it helps a little bit... it also runs underneath the front of my bra and gives me a bit of a lift and support in the front.

Insurance approved

Insurance has approved, the second dr guessed the amount exactly. 360 grams from each. Husband thinks going to a B to mid C would be too small. I'm adding a picture maybe girls here can give some insight. I got a little bit of time to decide. The second dr did say that he thinks it would be too small on me aesthetically. So I really honestly do not know what to do now.

I had mine last week. I can already tell it was a great decision. My husband is a boob guy but he realized how miserable I was with my breasts being so huge. I'm already so much happier with how I look even with the swelling. I hope that whatever decision you make makes you happy. It's your body and you have to be able to live in it. Good luck.

Go to Dillard's. they have specialists that can size you right, and they have an incredible selection of large size bras. You are lucky to be in SLC, as both Dillard's stores have a good selection of DD, E, F, and G cups. As long as you are not experiencing trouble with your back, I can guarantee you would regret any reduction surgery.

I had mines on Sept.12. It was sooo worth it. As soon as I was able to stand after my surgery I noticed the difference in weight on my back. I'm still healing but don't be nervous. The day of my surgery went by so fast. Good luck to you.

Do what you want to do. My husband is a boob guy too and I went from an F to a B. I did it for me, not him. If he had something that I liked but made him miserable, I would have supported his decision ~ as he did mine. Best decision I ever made! ONLY regret....I didn't do it sooner. Good luck! :)
