My experience with Dr. O’Brien and his office...

My experience with Dr. O’Brien and his office has been more than excellent. Prior to my consultation, I did my research and found Dr. O’Brien is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which means he is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery. Finding a doctor that was a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon was the most important qualification as I started my quest for breast augmentation. I read through Dr. O’Brien’s website and felt that this was a surgeon I should schedule a consultation with. I was able to schedule my consultation around my work schedule.

Consultation: The office is beautiful. My first contact was with Jenn and she is always smiling. She knows your name and is ready for you to be at your appointment. The vibe in the office was relaxed, yet professional. I met with the doctor immediately. I was nervous and had about three pages of questions. Dr. O’Brien put me at ease by engaging in a conversation with me, rather than a question and answer session. He provided me with information about him and most of my questions were answered without me even having to ask a question. Dr. O’Brien then took me to another room in order to look over my breasts and get an idea of what I was looking for. The meeting didn’t feel medicinal and cold, but got to the point and made me feel great about myself. I want to add this was my first cosmetic surgery procedure and I was terrified to have a doctor that would look at me and tell me everything else under the sun that I could use to have fixed. Dr. O’Brien did none of that. He did not try to sell me on anything. He gave me my options and we discussed what I was looking for in regards to the outcome of my procedure. Katie, Dr. O’Brien’s scrub nurse was included in this part of my consultation. She is absolutely amazing! From there, I met with Kristen and she provided me with a printed estimate for my procedure. Everything was spelled out. Again, I felt no pressure to schedule and/or go through with this procedure (I did schedule that day). I requested additional information on a warranty and Kristen called me after my appointment to make sure I had all the information I had requested. I was also walked through the on-site surgery center. It is a great center and very clean and sterile.

Pre-Operation Appointment: Basic meeting. You go in with pictures of what you would like the outcome of your procedure to resemble. Be realistic in what your body can do and what will look natural. Dr. O’Brien will give you his opinion if you ask for it. I was very nervous and very much wanted his opinion. He gave it and I went with it and I could not be happier with my results (more of that to come).

Day of Surgery: I arrived, changed into my very fashionable surgery attire, and nerves hit hard. Becky was the nurse working with me for my pre-op. She put my IV in and was so sweet to me. I started to feel sick and she kept talking to me and making me feel as comfortable as possible. The anesthesiologist came in briefly and let me know that I would be knocked out in no time. He was full of energy. The anesthesiologist group that Dr. O’Brien uses is great. I am lawyer so I looked up any medical malpractice claims against Dr. O’Brien or the anesthesiologist group that he uses and found none (GREAT). I was wheeled back. I remember seeing Katie and the anesthesiologist and then I woke up to Becky and Katie.

Results: The procedure I had done was a breast augmentation. I was an A cup, slight tublar breasts, height 5’4, weight 130lbs (30 years old, no children). I asked for something that would look natural. I wanted full breasts on the side and underneath. I understood that my breasts would look slightly augmented as they would be augmented. Dr. O’Brien recommended I go with a C cup. I had smooth silicone. Moderate profile, under the muscle with incision in the fold under my breast. I am 1.5 months out from my surgery and they look amazing. I am able to fit in my clothes and my body looks complete!

If you are thinking about having any work done, I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. O’Brien. He is an amazing surgeon. He listens to what you want, looks at the pictures you bring him, and truly cares that his work is art. Don’t sell yourself short going to another doctor that might give you larger implants than you want, or thinking they know you better than you know yourself. Dr. O’Brien is the real deal. His office staff (Kristen, Jenn, Katie, Becky) are absolutely amazing. In fact, I told a friend that if it wasn’t weird I would have asked them to have a drink with me sometime because they are that friendly! If I have any additional work done I promise you I will be going back to Dr. O’Brien.
