How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.

Where to start... I struggled with weight my entire life and gained a substantial amount during college. Long story short 2.5 years later I naturally lost the weight which was fantastic but I still had the loose skin around the abdominal area. I researched the procedure starting in 2014 and during the summer had a recommendation from my physician. I made an appointment with Dr Hoffman for a Q/A and estimate. 2 years later I had the surgery, and I'm 5 months into recovery.
Pros:
Dr. Hoffman did a great job and I'm very happy and excited to see the full end results. My full recovery (1cm per week recovery estimate) is December 2017.
I fit into my clothes and I'm done covering myself with baggy clothes to hide the loose skin.
Mentally I feel better, less stress about clothes, etc.
Cons:
The cost is obviously absorbed by you as insurance doesn't cover cosmetic surgery. I saved a total of $16,000 and used it all considering: surgery, medications, electric recliner, and misc. However... It was totally worth it and I would highly recommend it.
I had to take 3 weeks off of work. I ended up going on short-term disability... Flip side, take the time off. I'm a sales rep and always interacting with clients. You'll be on pain killers for 3 weeks. Enjoy your time off and make sure to be as active as possible within reason.
You have to sleep in a chair for realistically until your drains are out. For me that was about 40 days. I went out and bought a $500 leather electric recliner from Costco. I'm telling you this right now IT IS A NECESSITY.
Tricks/Things to know:
Before you get surgery with Dr Hoffman:
Buy baggy clothes I bought 2X when I wore L/XL
Buy gauze pads and tape. Use that to put around your incision and tubes to soak all the liquids.
During the surgery with Dr Hoffman:
Breathe and get comfortable when you're getting prepped for surgery. It was a little nerve wrecking being my first surgery and major one at that but support staff at the hospital was great. Go into the process knowing how much better you'll look and feel 2 months later.
After you get Surgery with Dr Hoffman:
While you are taking your pain killers SET AN ALARM every morning for whatever interval your taking your medicine. I did this the entire time.
Push yourself to do more everyday. It's all mental and all pain tolerance.
Buy the electric chair. Buy buy buy.
It took my 5 months to get back to playing hockey at a competitive level. Skating at 70%. Back at the gym lifting 70%; core lifting 30%. Running constantly 25mins at 60%. Playing 18 holes of golf on the weekends, musky fishing... basically doing everything but still feel the minor restraints of the surgery.
Overall: Dr. Hoffman and his team did a great job. He comes fully recommended from me. He's been with me every step of the process. Pictures and update to come in Oct.
