I did extensive online research on facial surgeons and met with 2 doctors. I feel completely comfortable with my choice, Dr Nayak. My original surgery date was October 13th, but had to reschedule because of a joint supplement, MSM, that I have taken for years may cause thinning of the the blood, I was so disappointed, better safe though. My recommendation is to ask your doctor about every little substance you may be taking for whatever to make sure it does not derail your surgery date. Now I am back to waiting for my new surgery date, November 18th.
I think I have always disliked my profile, weak chin for sure, but now add the sagging skin and jowls. I just want to look into the mirror and see the person that I feel like inside.
I am adding my before photos now so that I am ready to post my post op photos as I progress through the healing time and the new me is revealed.
I have told only my family members who I will inevitably see me during my healing time about my surgery. So you all will see my progression as I hide from most of my family and friends while healing.
I am excited, but not looking forward to the month wait for the big day.

Time seems to have stopped. 23 Oct 2014 25 days pre The wait for surgery seems endless! Especially since I have done this same countdown already, only to have surgery postponed. I have been looking at lots of before and after photos on the internet and have no doubt that this surgery is for me. One benefit of the reschedule is that I have been able to reserve a hotel room that I think will be more comfortable for my stay. We were surprised that our room did not have a fridge or microwave at my first scheduled surgery date. I have some photos to add, I have makeup on and my hair is not held back with a head band but for some reason I am unable to download them?? I will try later.

You are going to be so happy when this is over. My chin was very similar to yours and the aging seems to accelerate without the chin structure. I'm almost 4 months out and have no regrets.

Im glad you said something about the MSM. I will stop taking mine now. How long does it need to be out of your system to be safe?

My doctor wanted me off MSM for 2 weeks. Make sure you ask your doctor about each and everything you take, EVERYTHING! I recently had a bladder infection, I got on the phone and called the doctor to see if the antibiotic was ok to take, taking no chances this time. MSM was a big enough deal that the surgery was cancelled! I was at the surgery center and already took and oral 'goofy pill' and had to go home. All the packing and lining everyone up to help with the pets ect. was a waste. I am taking nothing but my thyroid med, allergy med, which I could not be without this time of year and extra strength Tylenol. I will not let that happen again. Make sure that you have a list in your hand of Everything you are taking when you go in for you pre-op appointment (2 weeks before) and have your doctor look at it. He can tell you want you can take, then call him first if there is anything you need to add during that last 2 weeks. I would have been almost a month into recovery if it had not been for MSM.

By the way, if you take Glucosamine and Chondroitin make sure it does not have MSM as well. Some of the bottles you can buy include all 3. I quit taking Glucosamine and chondroitin too, I think it was considered ok to take but I am not taking any chances.

I was taking MSM along with Glucosamine and chondroitin. These are 'natual' joint supplements. Been taking them for many years for joint pain. Day of surgery I found out it thins blood so therefore I had to be rescheduled. My advise would be to take a list of everything, supplements, vitamins EVERYTHING in with you to your doctor and have them look at it and ok what you can take. I would eliminate all but what you have to take. Stop all supplements and vitamins for pre-op and post-op. Take no chances.
