Menopause hit hard and fast. I was thrust into...

Menopause hit hard and fast. I was thrust into menopause practically overnight 4 years ago when I had to take tamoxifen for breast cancer (which I stopped taking a year later due to bad side effects). It was truly a terrible experience, but that is for another post.
I am 52 years old, and for the last 3 years, intercourse has been becoming more and more painful, to the point that I avoid intercourse at all costs, and it does cost. For a woman who has been very sensual her entire adult life, this has been a huge loss.I have lost romance, intimacy with my husband, who is very understanding, but I feel bad for him. To me, intercourse feels like sandpapering my vagina. Expecially the opening. It is horrendous. After reading the posts here, I decided to try it with very high hopes. The procedure itself was initially an eye opener. Unlike others who describe this procedure, to me it felt initially like being cattle prodded with a hot poker. I was assured that the hot sensation would pass soon, as you acclimate, and it did. My practitioner told me to let her know if she needed to turn down the machine. I didn't want her to though, because I wanted to receive the full benefit of the right temperature. The probe was literally in and out quickly for 1/2 hour. It was somewhat uncomfortable for me because of my atrophy, but tolerable. I walked out after 30 min feeling warm inside, when I looked at myself when I got home, the tissues were pink and fuller. I was so hopeful for intercourse the day after. I have to say external sensation was improved 50%, lubrication was improved 25% (for me, ANY improvement is good). Unfortunately, sex was just as painful as ever, feeling like a tight band. I will keep you all updated as to my progress, as I know many of you are on the fence, as I was. I am very optimistic but will be truthful, you can be sure. The consultation was $150 which is applied to the first treatment. I will receive 3 treatments at a cost of $1000 per treatment.

I never saw Dr. Kilmer at all. Initially, a nurse met with me for the consultation, and another nurse Becca, performed the actual procedure on another day. Both were very nice and answered all of my questions. The phone follow up was excellent and the nurse listened to my concerns.
