I got my laser treatment today for perioral lines...

Went for my one month follow-up on March 3rd. The lines in area around my mouth have softened considerably, but still have some "pucker-mouth" I'm not happy with. Will have another Deep FX on April 7th. Will update at the one month follow-up. I didn't think much had improved, since I see my face every day, but when the doctor showed me the before & after pics that were taken in her office, I thought....wow!! Definitely worth it! Ladies (and gents), take your own pics at home so you can gauge the progress.

I got my laser treatment today for perioral lines...

Day 2: Woke up 7AM extremely swollen, deep, flaming beet red. Yikes! But bleeding has lessened. Red pinpoint dots all over where the laser penetrated. Continued with the vinegar soaks/ointment every 2 hours. Still no pain, but some itching is starting. By noon, the itching was much, much worse (elected to take 2 ibuprofen every 6 hours instead of Benadryl)....face looking better. By tomorrow I'm guessing the worst part will be, being a shut-in for so long.......yawn.
Day 3: Less swollen, but still a fair amount. Itching has decreased. No bleeding, no pain, tiny scabs, face red, but more of a deep pink. Still soaking/ointment every 2 hours. Sleeping as upright as possible to keep swelling down. (two pillows, covered with beach towel to keep ointment off pillows)

Day 4: Swelling almost gone, just a couple of little pockets above cheeks. Faint pink now, no itching, small amount of flaking, but not peeling. I had a full-face Fraxel done in 2010 and my entire face bronzed and flaked off for 3 days. Don't see that happening this time. No more vinegar soaks, ointment only at bedtime. No make-up yet or sunscreen, but went out briefly to grocery store after the sun went down. Almost back to normal. Will see Dr. for 5-day follow-up tomorrow. Don't expect to see any improvement until a month out, when collagen has started to regenerate......I hope! All in all it was easy-peasy!

I got my laser treatment today for perioral lines...

I got my laser treatment today for perioral lines around the mouth. Went in an hour early, after taking two Motrin at home. They applied numbing cream to the area and wanted to do some injections to help block the pain. I decided against them, instead waiting until the procedure started to see if numbing cream would be enough. When the doctor came in an hour later to start the procedure, she realized I had not had the blocks and insisted I do so. Well......I am so glad she insisted!! It was mostly painless, until she made some passes in the corners of my mouth and under my nose. I felt a moderate amount of pain and realized I was crazy to think numbing cream would be enough. All in all though, the procedure was 90% pain-free..The painful parts were very short & fast. As far as getting the treatment again, pain-wise, it's a no-brainer.....I would. Took about 10-15 minutes. Afterwards there was pinpoint bleeding, about seven or eight areas. They applied a greasy ointment and I drove myself home. On the way the bleeding continued to drip down my face (make sure you get gauze to take with you!) By now all numbing was starting to wear off. Have been home 2 hours & there is absolutely NO pain....still a little bleeding. Vinegar soaks/Aquaphor ointment to commence in 3 hours , repeating every 3-4 hours while I'm awake for the next 3-4 days. Will see how everything starts to shape up after a week or so & swelling has gone down. I don't look that scary, BUT it was only around my mouth, I got done.....not entire face. See doctor again in five days.
Will update results in a month.
