I am a 43 yo mother of 3 and have been either breastfeeding or pregnant 9 out of the last 13 years. So my body has been through the wringer, and I'd like to get at least my upper half back.
I have been watching your stories for a while, but decided to post because this is happening so fast! I am really nervous, but excited. I would love any advice!
Short story - finally had consult with 1st doc April 2nd, had mammogram, had consult with 2nd doc April 25th, confirmed my instincts were right and decided to move forward with doc #1. Thought I would schedule it in June when my boys were away at camp for a week, but the thought of trying to hide high, big boobs in the summer intimidated me. Trying to find dates that worked for both me and my husband to take off work, plus my nanny to watch our 3 kids for a few days was tough, so the timing was either May 3rd (1 week from decision to even move forward!), June 12th (so close to summer, thought it would be tough to hide) or push off until November.
Once my mind was made up, the thought of waiting more than 6 months sounded excruciating! But my fears of trying to hide super high, swollen, bruised boobs in Sacramento 100 degree plus weather also didn't sound fun. So went with next week....Right after I paid for the surgery IN FULL over the phone, I had a message saying that the results of my mammogram required an additional diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. Ugh, literally a week away, just paid for, and now there could be something wrong.
So here I am .... out of town and going straight from the airport when I return home Monday to the imaging center for my additional testing, pre-op appointment with the doc Tuesday morning, then surgery Thursday morning. Yikes! It is a whirlwind of a week!
So questions for those who have made it to the other side .... what is the most important thing to do in the week before surgery and during the pre-op appointment? Make sure I have big sports bras on hand, bring my 'wish pics' to pre-op appointment, what else?
Stats: 5'10", about 155 lbs., athletic, broad shoulders, small 36B cup
Originally, my desire was to just get the fullness back from before my body was taken over by parasites. (kidding - I do love my kids!) I had been a full B prior to breeding... Now that I have met with two docs, I am thinking that going bigger may be the right move for me. I am tall with broad shoulders, and proportionally a D would be a better fit, but I am worried about coming out of the gate huge.
Anyway, thanks for any advice or encouragement. Sort of freaking out a little...not only for the procedure but for what the next mammogram and ultrasound will show. It's just a lot to process this week!
I will try to post some current 'before' photos along with some wish pics if I can figure it out!

Had My Pre-Op Today!
Definitely feeling less nervous about the procedure after meeting with my doctor again. He made me feel at ease and answered all of my questions so patiently. Tried on some sizers based on his recommendations and looks like the 375-400 cc range it may be. Now worried about going too big! What do you guys think? I’m big-boned, wide shoulders, 155 lbs. and 5’10+. Definitely athletic so hoping these are a reasonable, natural size?!

Serious nerves and cold feet. Tomorrow is the day!!
Not as excited anymore...more nervous. Worried about taking care of three kids when I’m recovering. Trying to not think about it but virtually impossible! 10:30am tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Hope both of you ladies are healing well! So far recovery has been a piece of cake, but they are still odd looking. Lol....hope all is well with your progress and recovery.

Mine still look odd too. I will post an update on Friday (2 weeks). What more bother me is a burning sensation on my putter left side. I hope it resolves itself with time

Oh, no....I haven't had that, although I had a weird rib almost bruise-like feeling right under my left breast for two days like I had bumped into something...I guess the bodies do what they can to heal themselves....I hope your burning feels better soon!

Fingers crossed our recovery is fairly quick and relatively painless. Are either of you starting to doubt doing it at all? I’m feeling super selfish right now :( Do you both have a partner or relative to help you with the kids? Good luck tomorrow @Myboobies2! Maybe I’ll run into you in the recovery room ;) And @Piquyta, hopefully I’ll be up for taking some pics tomorrow and sharing my recovery on here. Good luck to you for Friday!
