WORTH IT
Hi,
I am 60 years old, just. Eight years ago, in a hasty decision, I had 280 cc breast implants. I was a 34 B and went to a 34 FF; bigger than I had anticipated. Since the implants, I have have had constant pain and discomfort in my left breast. My breasts felt heavy and uncomfortable and I have not been able to not wear a bra or go to bed without support since the procedure. I do a lot of yoga and pilates and they got in the way.
As others have said, it is also difficult to get clothes to fit due to having large breasts, relative to the rest of my figure. In hindsight, I should have had them removed straight away.
I have not liked to have them touched, which is a shame as they have looked good. Before, I used to walk around the house without a bra on, but for the last 8 years that has not happened.
Anyway, after reading all the stories on RS I decided to have them removed. I have been to see 3 different Plastic Surgeons, the 1st in Surrey (who was unconvincing), the 2nd in Harley St and the third in Tunbridge Wells. After seeing the last one I felt comfortable with his approach. He proposed a two stage plan, with initial removal of implants and capsulectomy, but possibly leaving in the right capsule if it proved to be particularly thin, and then to leave everything for approximately 3 months to see how my breasts look, allowing them to settle, before deciding if a lift is necessary.
As you might imagine, I was feeling nervous and apprehensive about both the operation and how my breasts would look afterwards, but after careful consideration and research I felt that the implants needed to come out.
My choice of Surgen in the end was Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgen, Marc Pacifico. I had two consultations with him before my op. Marc is charming, listens well and truly understood what I wanted.
My implants were removed on the 14th of June 2017. The left breast, which had always been very painful, had a double capsule around the implant which Marc removed. He managed to remove 1/2 of the right capsule as the rest was attached firmly to the muscle at the back and he felt it best to leave that part in situ.
I had my operation at the Nuffield Tunbridge Wells Hospital. The Staff at the Nuffield hospital were excellent and my room and en suite were spotlessly clean.
Marc likes you at the hospital early so that he can mark patients up and plan what he will be doing in theatre for the day, then one waits until it is time for one’s op. I had a lovely time doing paper work and watching TV, reading etc, before I had my op at about 1.30pm!
Marc came to see me after my op and again the next morning.
Because I had drains in place I stayed in hospital overnight. The night staff were excellent and fed me biscuits and cups of tea as I had not managed to eat my dinner, which was a shame as it looked really tasty and beautifully presented.
I have had no pain and so far things look better than I had dared to imagine.
It is amazing to feel free again, and back to being all me, so to speak.
I have had to wear TED stockings for 2 weeks which I changed daily, one pair in the wash one pair on.
I have also been wearing a binder around my chest. Again one in the wash and one on. I have found it best sleeping slightly up right on plenty of pillows.
I went back to the hospital after a week to check everything was ok, which it was, so I was in and out in 10 minutes.
Tomorrow I go back to Marc’s clinic to see the nurse and have my dressings removed cleaned and re done, I think.
I will post a photo of my breasts before and after implants, then after the operation. I hope this will help someone who is thinking of doing the same.
Bye for now.

I commend your courage! I am looking at doing fat transfer because I just know as much as I may want the look of implants, I don't want them in my body. I'm not sure if you really have much fat to take, but it may be an option for you too.

Morning Amber E, Unfortunately I do not have any fat, so a Fat transfer was not an option for me. I did not want anything put in my breasts I just wanted the implants out, and poss lift. I am waiting to see how I looked before making any further decisions on what I might do next, which was the advice of my PS. So far I am happy with the way they are settling down. After years of pain in my left breast, I am pleased to say that has gone.
