Hooked up!

First thank. s for your so sweet and thoughtful messages. This has been quite an ordeal and it helps to hear from you girls! the wound specialist and his staff have been amazing. after the culture came back, it ended up being a fairly rare type of infection, stenotrophomonus. I know thats a mouthful, isnt it? Turns out it's also hard to get rid of! I have been on a very high dosage of Bactrim for 10 days. After seeing the Dr again today, it was determined the infection was still there, though better, so now I'm on an even stronger antibiotic. Taking a toll on me physically, joint pain, nausea, but nothing I cant handle if it can knock this stuff out. The good news is that he made the decision to start the wound vac even though the infection is not completely gone. I feel like this is at least moving forward. Right now, I am depending on my faith and patience to get me through. I am looking at a long road ahead but God is keeping me positive through prayer. I know that I am going through this for a reason and it will be revealed to me when He's ready. I am having to miss a very important wedding in a few weeks and of all things, my 60th birthday is Sunday. The wound vac is not exactly a fashion statement and very hard to dress around but I'll figure it out. When I do, I'll post pics of what I come up with to share!! Thanks again for you kind words and caring thoughts.

Saw wound specialist.

He debrided a lot of the yellow out of my nipple. Which exposed a large hole in my flesh. This is infected. He did cultures and hopefully well be able to start in office IVs of antibiotics on Wednesday. Sight must be kept dry so I have to keep it bandaged until it needs changing. Probably Monday, per nurse I'll post pics then I'm very happy to have been referred to this wound specialist. Very kind, but realistic. He tells me I'm looking at 3 to 6 months. Oh and btw, it smells horrible when the bandage needs changing so there's no guessing on that. I mean your breast is not far from your nose, lol and I can tell. Thanks for listening Please if anyone has any hopeful success stories I'd love to hear

My right nipple was black immediately after surgery My PS did not debride immediaately , he wanted the big black scab to loosen first. That happened after 3 weeks and he was able to remove it with scissors. Right now I am going back every day for them to check it and change bandages. We are using calcium alginate, covering with gauze I am to see a wound care dr next week Trying not to get too blue but it looks so bad. Any great healing stories? Recommendations? What worked for you? Becoming less energetic, depression or sickness? I would appreciate ANYTHING you can tell me ANYTHING Thanks in advance

Dr Graivier has been my PS for more than 20 years. He is an artist as well as a surgeon. I truly think this is as hard for him as it is for me. He is a professional, and his staff are sooo caring. I truly feel like family there, We are all working together to get through this hiccup. I know that this practice will not quit until I,m happy and Dr Graivier is happy
