I'm not sure of the exact date of service, but it...
I'm not sure of the exact date of service, but it was awhile ago and needed to share this experience. This was my second time getting botox from a board certified facial plastic surgeon. Had 35 units (I think, doctor didn't tell me nor did I ask) in glabella and forehead. The first time, I suffered from a headache for about a week (but it looked great... oh, darn you vanity) and I went back after it wore off. The second time I had horrible side effects immediately following the procedure: vomiting, diarrhea, a severe terror or panic feeling, dizziness, and thought I was going to die. My husband called the doctor who said he had never heard of these side effects and it couldn't be from the botox. Really???!!! He said I should take a "Valium and calm down." I've never had or taken Valium and not quite sure how to swallow anything at that point since I was actively vomiting. Ironically, the Botox had no visible effect on wrinkles in the weeks to come, and I really feel like my body got rid of the toxic poison quickly. Our bodies are so different and they are going to respond differently to substances we put in it. I cannot believe the doctor denied that the symptoms.... possible as flu symptoms are listed (even on the Allergan website). I'm disgusted by how I was treated, disturbed by the horrible side effects, and sad that I felt the need to do this to myself for stupid forehead wrinkles. I'll cut some wispy bangs before I ever inject a toxic substance into my body again. The waves of panic eventually subsided, and the horrible flu symptoms were gone after a week. I feel very lucky that this wasn't worse but I have no doubt in my mind that it would be devastating to my body if I had continued. If you are considering Botox, I encourage you to read all the negative reviews before making your decision. Some peoples lives will never be back to normal because of this disgusting, moneymaking, toxic substance that preys on our fears of aging or looking older. I hope we can just embrace aging and be happy that we're alive and healthy, and avoid all these moneymaking schemes that are so rampant in culture today. I'm going to practice loving and accepting myself no matter what I look like because in the end, a stupid forehead wrinkle doesn't matter! Health and longevity matter. A horrible experience and disturbing side effects. Never again!
