3 weeks post op I started experiencing skin tears....

3 weeks post op I started experiencing skin tears. I have had repair surgery on the left breast six times and repair surgery five times on the right breast. As of today my last surgery repair was on October 21, 2016. As of today October 27, 2016 I am still experiencing skin tears. My surgeon is very replicable and is doing what he says needs to be done. He is keeping a very close eye on me I am in his office 2 to 3 times a week every week. I have almost had surgery on a weekly basis to try and repair my breast. He admits he pulled the skin so tight and did not leave room for swelling. I have been doing the wet to dry pads twice a day I am on vitamin C and vitamin zinc. My question is is there anything else that can be done to speed up this healing process?

I am sorry about your breast. I know you are saying it's skin tearing but are you sure it's not an infection/bacteria that's is eating away at the skin? Please at least seek another doctors opinion other than the doctor that did Your surgery. I really hope you get this sorted out as soon as possible. All the best

I definitely agree, please seek out another doctor's opinion. I see a lot of slough (unhealthy tissue) necrotic tissue (dead ) which need to be removed so that the healthy tissue will be exposed and the wounds will begin to heal. There also appears to be signs indicating infection. I would hate to see you become septic ( infection in your bloodstream ). Again, please seek out a second opinion. I wish you nothing but the best.

I agree with Pennylover1984. I would also suggest going to the ER just in case there is an infection. The Doctor might be trying to save himself. I think getting a second opinion (right away) is better.

I do not have an infection and never have had one, thank God. My Dr. Is conducting doing skin graphs to cover the gaping wounds.

Ok first of all I am so sorry that you are going through this. I live in Roseville too and I would be more than happy to drop off some very powerful, POTENT essential oils that repair cells, skin, are anti bacterial and anti viral, etc. I know that sounds a bit hippie ish, but I have been using oils for 2 years now with incredible success. We live in Haiti half of the year and we've used them in our medical clinic there to stop bleeding, form clots, repair skin, nerve damage, migraines, on and on and on. I just had a breast lift last month and my body started to spit the stitches out along my incision. The first one, my surgeon took out...leaving a small hole. I started putting a few specific oils over it and it is closing up nicely. Then, 3 more on the other breast started spitting. Instead of going back to him and bothering him, I decided to put oils on them, and within two days the oils had dissolved the them and essentially melted the stitches on the outside, but leaving them in tact on the inside. It was the craziest thing! No hole opening up, it's like they just disappeared. I know your case is obviously much more severe than that but I would say it's definitely worth a try at this point. Again, I would be happy to bring them to you since I am local. You can read my story on here...I'm on the homepage of realself, and not a crazy person ;) Again so so sorry you are having to endure this. My heart goes out to you. xxoo

I would be scared to put anything on these open gaping wounds at this point, but thank you any way. My Dr. is talking about doing skin graphs over the open wounds soon.

Also there's some specific supplements I would recommend for you to take internally to help speed up the healing process DEFINITELY, but due to Real Self's regulations on here I am not allowed to say which ones because I guess it seems like then they are endorsing them or something. But I've got a few really great ones in mind. Let's get together if you are up for it.

I am currently taking vitamin C and Zinc.

There is a lot more that would benefit you other than just those two. Taking frankincense internally (don't have to put it on you if you don't want), Juniper Berry oil (internally), Lavender, Oregano to keep infections away, I would definitely add Lysine to your regimen (you can get that at any drug store and it's fairly cheap)...it's a good immune booster and great for the skin, and then I would definitely add a multivitamin if you aren't taking one (Vitamin C and Zinc are just not enough) as well as switching to a whole food plant based diet. A plant based diet alone is incredibly healing...you can read the research on it. Very powerful. Seems drastic but if this were me that is exactly what I'd be doing. Best of luck to you...please keep us posted of your progress.

As of October 29,2016 these are the up to date photos. Yesterday when I seen my doctor he said he is considering a skin graft on the right breast. He said the skin inside looks like it's healing well the color is coming back it's filling in and looking better he says. That left breast is the one with the hole in it still and he wants that to heal more on the inside before he does a skin graft. As of today's date October 29, 2016 I have had six repair surgeries on the left breast and five on the right breast. I just hope and pray that the skin graphs will help me heal quicker. He has not set a date yet for that to be done. I am in his office at least twice a week he is keeping a very close eye on me. My original breast lift surgery was done August 25, 2016.

Omg omg I am so so sorry that looks painfully horrendous. I am sorry . So sad! What is your prognosis?
User Avatar

My doctor is saying I can leave them open and continue the wet to dry pads and let it heal that way. Or he saying that I can consider skin graphs over the wound at some point. We are 2 1/2 months into this and I see this going on probably for another 3 to 6 months. It is getting easier to deal with I am getting used to it. And strangely enough it's not really that painful anymore.
November 7, 2016
I am glad to hear you are not in pain. I am praying for you and your recovery. So let me ask are you in antibiotics ? I am sending you hugs and prayers for a speedy recovery xoxo

I took antibiotics a couple months ago. I do not and have not had an infection. Thank God! I keep the wounds very clean and my doctor keeps a very close eye on me. I'm in his office twice a week at the least, every week.
November 7, 2016
Keep it up and any feelings of,things not feeling ok please go to him. I am hoping that talks of revisiting reconstructive surgery are in place. I pray you will, heal nicely . xoxo

He's already told me the right breast is ready for a skin graph if I would like. Or I can go ahead and leave it open and heal open. The left breast still has some more healing inside to do before it is ready for a skin graft. I have not decided what I want to do yet.r

I've booked myself an appointment for a breast lift, but I'm scared and wonder if its really worth £5,000 reading your story has made me take stock and consider this very carefully. Thank you I go back on Friday he is going to sew the left one up for the fifth time. That one has a deeper hole in it still and he wants it to close up more before he considers doing a skin graft. The right one is healing better now from the inside out obviously to where it may be ready for a skin graft. Thank you
November 4, 2016
So sorry this happened to you. Did this happen to you only because he pulled the skin too tight? Are u very thin skinned? I have never heard of skin tears. I've heard of the nipple dying. Were you getting a lift or just a breast aug? Praying for you!
User Avatar

It was a lift only and it was due to the doctor pulling the skin too tight. He admitted that he had pulled the skin too tight. I go in today for surgery I believe number six on the left breast to sew it back up. The doctor is considering doing a skin graft over the right one soon. It's just a slow process he said because the skin was pulled so tight and the swelling just busted the skin open. It is slowly healing and he is taking very good care of me. He is a very reputable dr and I trust him.

I seriously hope you are getting your money back and then some. This type of mistake is unacceptable and I think you should see another dr to help this heal properly. I wouldn't trust this guy touching me again. So sorry you had to experience this. I had a lift and reduction a year ago no issues and it's the best thing I ever did!

Thank you so much. This is just such a long process. I know someday I will be OK it's just going through this for so long next week will be three months. I do not see me healed for a few more months. I'm really considering having the skin graft done on the right breast that's ready for skin graft. It would be nice just to see it covered. The left breast still has some healing to do before the skin graph can be done if I decide to do that. Again thank you so much have a wonderful day and happy holidays
