How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

I tried exercising as much as I could but I ended...

I tried exercising as much as I could but I ended up hurting myself. I had major separation of my abs and later found out an umbilical hernia. I tried sucking it in when I would go out and it was just painful.
I researched for a year and kept saying to myself: "I don't need it", " Dont be selfish.", " Stop being so vain."

My husband at the end pushed me to do it. He told me the longer I wait the harder it will get. There is always going to be something happening in life that will require my attention but he asked me to pay attention to myself this one time. He said he promised that to me and I shouldn't feel bad about.

After following several doctors on RealSelf I kept on going back to Dr. Kerr. Everybody would rave about his bedside manner and staff. I almost couldn't believe it. Too good to be true. I really liked his before and after pictures. He had also done the TLC show.
I made an appointment thinking they won't be as nice to me like on the reviews. As soon as I start talking the person on the other line she made me feel comfortable. They ask you questions that are the norm to know what you'll need. At the same time they feel personal and I felt dumb for saying what my issue was. Again the girl's demeanor on the phone was that of understanding and reassurance.
I'm 5'1 and 114 lbs. Most of my damage was on the center of my belly. I didn't have enough stretched skin in other areas except right at the center. I felt my guts out if I let go completely of my abs. So in some way I was constantly sucking it in.
I knew that I possibly needed to have a regular tummy tuck with a vertical incision due to the lack of leftover skin.
At the appointment Dr. Kerr confirmed what I feared needed to be done. I was hoping for the magical word mini tummy tuck. Nope! That wasn't the case for me. Too much damage underneath the hood. You can't see very well if you open the hood halfway... (*that's how explained it to my husband ;-))
Not enough elasticity either, darn.
I took the plunge and let me tell you it is not for the faint of heart. Thanks to RealSelf I knew how I was going to feel.
Dr. Kerr's staff were just as great as the other reviews say. I'm 6 months post op. It still gets swollen especially when I eat or exercise but it's not bad.
Its a great feeling to put your jeans on without the flab hanging out. I think 5 months ago I thought it would look better but I realize I had 3 kids. Dr. Kerr did the best he could with the tapestry I gave him. I'm happy that my clothes fit and that I look and feel great.
I didn't post a pic but I believe Dr. Kerr said he would put it on his website of before and after. Maybe...?
