My husband bought me a tummy tuck with lipo of the hip rolls for Christmas. The surgery is at 9am on January 10. I have so many emotions. Excited yet terrified. I have guilt and feel somewhat selfish for spending so much money. I am so ready to feel comfortable in my clothes. I had my first son at age 16, I have not felt good about my body my entire adult life . I am so excited to put on jeans and not have "muffin top". I want to be able to do push ups without my stomach hanging down to the floor. But I am really excited to be able to wear dresses. Most dresses are form fitting , my body shape does not look nice in tight fitting clothes.

Stomach ache ???

Reading , googling, pinteresting, RealSelfing .....I'm on every site trying to get prepared yet I really cannot get motivated to be prepared. I'm so nervous. I'm really nervous about the stomach issues I've read about. I already have horrible gas pains, irregular bowl movements . I also don't eat the right foods. While I'm recovering I can't eat poorly because the kitchen is far away and I have to rely on others to feed me. Wondering if I should take a laxative tonight and tomorrow to kind of clean myself out ?? Start pounding water.

Same thing happened to me. So for my well being I quit the researching and following this site until after my surgery. It really helped with all my anxiety.

My doctor had me do a miralax clean out, It's the same as for a colonoscopy (you can look it up on line or message me). You eat low fiber foods starting two days before and the day before only clear liquids (anything you can see through). Not sure if it was because of my hernia and he was taking precautions if the had to do any bowel repair. This way you don't have any food to digestion when you have your procedure. I started taking stool softness right away after surgery. You'll not feel like eating much for a few days. I ate scrambled eggs and chicken and mashed potatoes for a week (stay away from gasses foods, i.e. Beans, garlic, onions). The gas pains are bearable. You'll need to spend some time sitting on the potty because you don't want to push...it hurts....Just relax. I drank a lot of water the first 4 weeks and it helped too....be very careful with salt.
No matter what the pain was it was totally bearable with drugs and Tylenol the first week, then Advil/Aleve when doctor gave the okay to use. I wrote EVERTHING DOWN in a notebook!! How much fluid the drains put out, what meds/Tylenol I took, what my pain level was when i took them and when I pooped. You can't believe how fast you forget.
You will be so happy when you see your flat tummy for the first time…it was all worth it for me.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery! :-)

Wow! What a long 3 days. So let me start by saying that in order to have this surgery you have to be strong and patient. The first day was hell because I was so sick from the anesthesia that I puked and dry heaved several times on my 4 hour drive home. There was nothing I could do to prevent it or stop it, and it hurt so bad. I've had a slight lingering cough that I thought wouldn't be that big of a deal, oh it's a big deal. Even clearing my throat hurts . Standing up and moving is very very painful of course, but as long as I'm in my recliner I'm totally fine. I could sit here all day and hardly struggle. Unfortunately from sitting here my back is now on fire when I stand up. Ummm... bloating and swelling is out of control. I haven't had a bowel movement and my stomach just gurgles and rumbles. Pressure from gas is uncomfortable. I keep up on pain meds but don't feel I need them much today. As bad as this all sounds I'm actually doing just fine. I just sit and watch tv. I got to peek at the incision last night and I just look deformed from swelling so I'm trying to tell myself that this isn't what I will look like in a month. I think I'll be happy soon.
