Oh pooh, I had to type this again because when I went to load my pictures everything I already wrote was lost…boohoo. This time I am using a word document to write everything so I have a back up. Anyway…
My family and friends don’t think I need to have anything yet but I see the changes in my face/neck and want to do something before it’s obvious that I did DO something. Hope that makes sense. Plus, I feel young at heart and still want the rest of me to match. At some point I’ll surrender to aging…not there yet.
I started my facelift research over a year ago, read a lot of material, looked at lots of pictures and whatever else I could get my hands on regarding the topic. I met with at least 6 surgeons in the Dallas area, all well respected and credentialed as far as I could tell. I chose Dr. Roberts because of his experience, vertical lift approach, “scar-less” focus, attention to detail and his patient reviews. Also, I appreciate Dr. Robert’s easy-going bedside manner. I didn’t get the sense of an over inflated ego that I’ve encounter with other plastic surgeons. His staff are patient, friendly and accommodating which is exactly what is needed to help put you at ease during this process. I recommend asking a lot of questions and know that it is normal to be a little nervous. However, when your day arrives, you have to trust your surgeon. I do and I’m excited for January 11th, 2018!
While going under, I thought I might as well get everything done that I wanted. Hence the 4mm lip implants top and bottom, upper eye bleph and a liquid facelift (to be done about a month after surgery when my swelling goes down). I have pretty good lips, I don’t get them injected either but I notice the volume diminishing as I age. I’m a little nervous with the lips. Don’t mind a little va-voom but hoping for natural looking results.
I'm sharing my experience to help others with their decisions and give credit where it is due. I welcome your comments and questions. See you on the other side.

I know exactly how you feel! I’m having my surgery in Feb., at 46 and everyone shaking their heads and thinking I’m nuts or/and vain. So I’ve stopped telling my firends about me contemplating having a lower face lift a while ago. But, like you, I’d rather do a little nip and tuck, than waiting until everything is literary in your face obvious lifted. I think the skin quality is so important to keep, and doing some minor changes to avoid deep wrinkles is so much better. And I really don’t like the filler in cheekbones or chins, it’s just too much in most cases. I’ve tried, but I don’t like the look on me. I have restylane in my lips and Botox in my forehead, and that’s it for me. I looooove you results, thanks for sharing! Happy healing:)

Thank you for your comment. I hear you, I finally told the one friend I did tell that I just needed her to support me in my decision. I didn't want any negativity in my brain. I am happy I took the plunge and am pleased so how things are looking so far. I think a will have a great result (not perfect I imagine, hard to get that). Good luck with your upcoming surgery! I would love to know how you are doing. :)

did you get a local or General ? you look amazing and I have heard every comment from why to I’m vain to what a waste of money ! I believe that we only have this life to live and we need to be comfortable and confident and enjoy ourselves and our outer shell ! someone told me God made you a certain way and to just be happy with it ....I said God also made plastic surgeons !! you look amazing and so do your lips feel now ? I have juvederm in my lips !

Hello! I had general, which I am happy that I did. I cannot imagine doing this under local. I wasn’t incubated, all the anesthesia was intravenous. My docs operating room was at the same location as his office. I was able to go home afterwards (when I woke up enough). I am so happy I chose Dr. Roberts. He is very meticulous and pays attention to details. I have looked as several recovery photos posted here on RS and am often horrified at the lack of attention/care some surgeons give. Even one doctor who gets tons of 5 stars reviews...when I look his incisions and suture work I am shocked (not in a good way). I recommend asking a surgeon to explain ow he closes, why he uses specific sutures, how bleeding is kept to a minimum, and how tension is kept off the closing sutures. Look at lots of their before and after photos. If they don’t have any...RUN! I went to one Dallas surgeon who wanted to do a complete overhaul on my face, charge me 20K but had zero pics to how me. Mentioned confidentiality as the reason...I say BS to that!! My lips are feeling pretty good now. Thank you for asking! Find a good surgeon and take the plunge! :)

I meant intubated. Autocorrect...ugh! Apologize for any other typos. Hacking my response out on my phone.

Hi ..you look fabulous! Like you I had been hesitant to go with the very popular surgeon in North Carolina because the sutures always seem to look very messy. your sutures look much smaller and even and like there would not be much scarring at all. Would you please tell me the full name of the doctor? I have a friend in Dallas that I can stay with if I go thereThanks for your honest review and for taking the time to be of assistance to the community members here.

Hi Lori520! Thank you for your kind words. I went to Dr. Gregory D. Roberts, his office is in Plano. Yes, he plans his incisions carefully. His goal is making sure you are confident wearing your hair up. I’ll post new pics of my incisions soon. I looked at every picture posted on this site for any kind of facelift and I’ve only seen one other surgeon who compares to Dr. Roberts work. Yes, you know exactly what surgeon I was referring in my statement. I do not understand why women are going there... sloppy work. Makes me sad. Our faces are such an important part of us, hard to hide bad work! Let me know if I can help in any way. Best! BTW - I was pretty terrified at the whole idea for a while. it took me over a year to take the plunge. So glad I did now.

I have been looking at the north c doctor, although he does a nice lift and the neck looks tight, the scars are awful. why they are not placed inside the ear. I love the placement of yours, how is the chin one coming along? also, can you explain how to do general without intubation? I thought u had to be intubated if you are asleep. you look like my goal !!! congrats!

My scars are amazing! I feel confident wearing my hair up already!

Since I’m not a doctor I’m not sure how they accomplished the general without intubation, they old me about it but I cannot remember the details.

I just had my neck and Lower facelift by the N Carolina doctor this week. I too was Very concerned about the suturing locations — and mentioned it to the doctor minutes before surgery — he said he’d pay close attention — they are close to hair line but very rough looking. They come out on monday and I’m already thinking I’ll need scar revision —- i always assumed a plastic surgeon would be so exacting, and more of a perfectionist. Sigh.

You look INCREDIBLE! I am 47 and I, too, am seeing things in the mirror I can not tolerate. I have been searching for the right doctor...that is the hardest part in my opinion. Your results look so great. Happy for you! Please post again a month or two out so we can see how you ars progressing. You already look HOT!

Can I ask the cost? And how long before you could go back to work

Hi! I luckily enough to not work too much but i would say 2 weeks realistically because it’s hard sleeping. The ears are the most uncomfortable part.

Hi. I like the doctor's technique. Is there a way that I can see the original before and after pictures? I am only able to see 4 pics of the ears. Thanks

Healing coming along. Looking pretty good so far.

So it's been a little over a week since my surgery. I am pleased with how things are coming along. The swelling is coming down, the left side is more swollen than the right. The right side looks great! My left side is slightly different above my mouth. The suture lines are fantastic, except for above my left ear the incision is a little wider and not a flat as I would like. I'm going to put cica silicone sheets on my scars in a few days. Although I must say, so much os how a scar heals is in the hands on the surgeon (as much as some of them would not like to own up to). I know this from past experience (long story). Hopefully, this spot with fade nicely...shall see. Yesterday I noticed a stitch got left behind. Will have to call tomorrow to see what to do about that. :)

Lips bruised but looking good!

FYI - some things I did before hand to prepare for surgery.
5 Rife treatments - instrument that delivers energy to the body as a stimulus to the user; this may at the same time, provide a destructive environment to all kinds of pathogens.
Lymphatic drainage with a microcurrent machine.

After surgery:
Dry brushing for lymphatic drainage
Take probiotics (take at a different time than the antibiotics)
Smooth Move herbal tea (no fun to be constipated on top of everything else)
Resting and watching lots of movies. Planned on being more productive but with a stiff neck/head and a cold that keeps lingering I do not have that kind a energy. Although I am keeping up with my Spanish lessons.

The last two nights I slept a full night, before I could only sleep 2-4 hours at a time.

Posting pics from the past week soon.
