I guess I should start with where I started. 37yr old mother of two children. Nursed the youngest til she self weaned at 3.5 then lost 10% bf. I went from a range of 36DD to a 32D to a 34B to a final of 31AAA at best. Literal flat chest.Pecs then breast tissue at the very bottom. Did what I thought was enough research last year to get my augmentation.So excited.Busted my a** to pay cash for them while homeschooling, being a wife and caring for my home (I own a fitness coaching business).My surgeon was highly recommended by a friend who could go anywhere.I had 6 consults 3 of them with the surgeon I chose (Ben Childers in Riverside, CA).I felt like he was very personable and cared about me. Boy was I wrong. I have over the muscle moderate plus profile smooth silicone 375 left 350 right.
6 wks PO contracture started to show but what did I know? I saw him every 6wks and was repeated told it was normal for one to take longer to heal/drop in than the other. For 10mo I dealt with tightness and uncomfortable sharp pains in my right breast. Im an athlete and my range of motion has been effected a lot. I got sick twice in January (Im never sick. Like never!) Was in the ER in April with loss of coordination. Blood work done repeatedly trying to figure out why I felt like crap. Lots of inflammation. Acne, dizziness, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, fatigue. Tested for auto immune, leukemia and finally... candida overgrowth. TADA! Hey guess what?! IMMUNE SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. Oh did I mention I was actively taking accutane and my dermatologist begged me not to have the surgery but my surgeon said it would be ok? YES! He did!
Fast forward to the end of May.. just shy of 1yr. Dr.Childers told me it appeared I had some contracture in the right breast and he wanted me to leave them alone to see if the left would contract some and the right would soften some @@. He made me an apt for Jul 8 just outside the window of the 1yr. How convenient.
When I went in for that apt, after seeing him every 6wks. He had an intern come in and first examine me. His back office staff PO never treated me the same at any of my apts. The girl was [RS bleep] at best. Dr.Childers was always in a rush and it was clear he didnt give a rats a** about me as a patient. On the last visit he informed me of my need for somewhat of revision surgery.
He wanted to remove and replace the ONE implant and the scar tissue and lift the opposite breast. Just one. Leaving them over. Can we say BANDAID and MORE SURGERY IN MY FUTURE?! A $3,800 surgery. When I asked if a bigger implant would fill in the space at the top like I wanted he brushed me off and said well I guess sure if thats what you want. It was a complete insult to injury. And thus began my search for a new surgeon who would revise my implants just after 1yr. 10mo I dealt with this bull crap.
I was never told what to expect. I wasnt called by the office at all. He went on vacation 3 days PO and I had to reach the on call surgeon to send him photos because my bruising was so bad and it freaked me out.
Ive now had 3 consults with 3 amazing surgeons. Dr.Diaz in Beverly Hills. His staff is great. Hes great. Hes forthcoming and professional. Surgery cost for revision $15,495 (Can you believe the original $3800?!)
Dr.Hardesty (Imagine Plastic Surgery in Riverside, CA) who is simply amazing. Chair of PS Inland Empire and extensive recognition of excellency. His bedside manner is unmatched for sure. At the end of my consult I was much more educated and felt he would take great care of me. Revision cost $14-$16k.
Dr.Bennett (Gemini Plastic Surgery in Rancho Cucamonga) Shes female for one. Worked in partnership with Dr.Hardesty. Shes Chief of plastic surgery Arrowhead Regional. She carries A LOT of Dr.Hardestys positive practices. She was very detailed for my personal anatomy. Made several examinations of every part of my breast. Her staff is amazing. Revision cost $11,595.
I am proposed to have surgery with Dr.Bennett on Sept 17 2015. Will post current photos when I get them and update accordingly.
Right now Im still confused on who to choose although leaning toward Dr.B.
