Breast Reduction - 39 Years Old, Formerly 32-J Bra Size to a D (Maybe a C?) - Richmond, VA
ORIGINAL POST
I've been considering a breast reduction for...
WORTH IT$12,000
I've been considering a breast reduction for years, but never had the insurance, the job security, the right life situation, or perhaps I wanted to "lose weight first"... many excuses kept me from getting this procedure, but I'm glad I finally did. I am 5' 5", and while my the women in my family have always had large breasts, mine were definitely a problem.
A few years ago, I actually had a proper bra fitting, and found that I was buying bands too big and cups too small - mostly because I was buying off the shelf bras. At that point I was a 32-H. Over the past few years, I gained a little weight, and went to a 32-HH, then to a 32-J. I lost some weight, but the boobs didn't go with it! At that point, I knew I needed to have the surgery. My breasts were causing pain, making it difficult to sit at my office computer all day without slouching, and although people say big boobs are "sexy", having pendulous breasts that were way too big made me feel anything BUT sexy.
I'm now a few days post-op, and I've been spending a lot of time lately on these message boards, so I thought I would finally join and post. There are some things that I know that people here will understand , much more than my friends (who have been fabulous through this, but might think I'm a little crazy if I tell them everything that's running through my head!)

11 Days Post-Op and doing great!
Some photos of the incisions, taken last night, on Day 10 post-op. I was very worried about how long it would take to heal, and while I'm still restricting activities, such as lifting, etc... I'm pleased so far! I just keep telling myself that this is normal and it will look much more normal in a few months, too!

looking very good indeed for 11 days, don't do too much and make sure any bra you wear does not rub the incisions, pad it out if necessary. do you air them for a while each day? I think that is a good idea

Thanks for the idea. I have one of my bras that is great for stretchy support, but one of the seams is just barely in the wrong place, so it rubs a little... I'll try some padding in there :)

How many grams were removed. I'm a 36J and my PS wants to take 850 from each breast. It sounds like a lot to me!

I was measuring as a 36/38K before surgery. The total grams really depends on how dense your breast tissue is. My PS estimated that he would take a little more than 500 grams per breast....it was more like 900+ grams from right and 700 grams from the left. Never found out the exact amount, but PS said a total of 5 1/2 pounds was removed including lipo.

I'm not sure yet, I forgot to ask how much they ended up taking! I am going in to see my surgeon on the 15th of April, so I will try to ask, then....

Looks like you are healing beautifully in your photos which are only 10 days post op. Hope you are continuing to do well.

Thank you! I am feeling pretty well, although week 2 had a lot more "general soreness" than I expected.. but I've passed the three week mark, now! I hope to have some more pictures up soon, to track the incision healing :)

Days 16-24 were more difficult for me too. But after that it got better and better. I would say 7-8 weeks I literally had almost no discomfort. Occasional zinger...but that is it. Now just waiting for scars to fade
