Sick Before Surgery??
WORTH IT$10,500
My surgery is first thing tomorrow and I'm starting to stress a little because for the past 3 days I have had bad post nasal drip and a sore itchy throat. I hope am I well enough to have the operation. Trying to think positively - I have been wanting to get my nose done forever and Dr. G has made me extremely comfortable through the whole process thus far. Does anyone know if they'll operate on someone with post nasal and a sore throat?

they took me :)
Woo! The nurses, surgery assistant, and especially the anesthesiologist were SO kind and so reassuring. Morning of my surgery I had a cough, sore throat, and post nasal drip (no fever). They made me feel so comfortable. Dr G came in before the surgery for a quick chat and before I knew it I was off!
Surgery was 1.5 hours - I had level 6 pain while recovering but as soon as I let the nurses know they took care of me right away. I was home by 11am. Spent all of the day on the recliner, watching TV. I did not want to be in pain or feel nauseous so I took my pain meds every 4 hours, drank as many fluids as possible, and ate a few bits of bread when I could. Over all I haven't been in any pain, just a little uncomfortable knowing I can't breathe through my nose.
One thing - my left nostril isn't completely congested. It's good because I get a little relief when swallowing BUT I realize when I fall asleep I accidently breath through it (I'm naturally a nose breather). I know there isn't anything I can do about breathing out of my nose involuntarily while I'm sleeping - but I hope this doesn't ruin the healing.
So far I would definitely recommend a rhinoplasty with Dr. G - will keep ya'll posted on day 2. Happy healing all :)

Get ready for Day 2/Day 3...
Super uncomfortable days. Day 2 I felt pain and swelling and day 3 I felt a lot of drainage to the back of my throat. There are times where I get so sick of this thing in my nose I just wanna rip it off - but then I remind myself a few days of being uncomfortable are worth it. I couldn't get to sleep yesterday beause I was so sick of laying in the recliner watching TV. I decided to turn all the lights off and listen to podcasts through my headphones, it was a nice escape. That little change was really helpful.
I also started feeling nauseous a few times. I think it was the combination of the back of my throat drainage on an empty stomach and not having enough water. This is kind of gross - but I've found eating something like pudding, applesauce or avena when you feel that draining sensation is really helpful in disguising the grossness.
Tomorrow I get my cast off! Really excited but also nervous. Like I mentioned before, Dr. G took a picture of my nose once it was done in the OR but I'm too nervous to look (lol like I'm learning the gender of a baby). I'm still really bruised all around my eyes and super swollen. Looking forward to taking this darn thing out of my nose.
Thanks to all you who have posted/continue to post. It really make this process so much easier and a lot less isolating.
