Dismissed my new breathing issues as swelling

ORIGINAL POST

avoid this surgeon at all costs

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE experience

I would highly advise anyone looking to have surgery with this surgeon to avoid him at all costs. Do not be lured in by his cheaper prices in comparison to other surgeons, he makes this up by totally “winging” and rushing surgery to the detriment of his poor patients, and rectifying the mess he has caused will cost you 10 times the amount initially spent.

I had a rhinoplasty by Stefano a year ago. I wanted a very minor change, and always had perfect nasal breathing. When I asked him if surgery would impact my breathing in any way, he replied “if your breathing is fine now, your breathing will be fine after surgery”.

I had several consultations with him, and every time I was left waiting over an hour, sometimes two hours to meet with him. Each time he would have one excuse or another. To add to this, I was promised my morphed images several days before my operation, however they were not received until the morning of my surgery after sending a distressed message to his (lovely) patient coordinator Elsa. As you can imagine, this left me feeling incredibly anxious.

I travelled almost 200 miles for my surgery, and was told that I would be the first case of the day, and therefore needed to be at the hospital at 8am. As I was heading into the taxi, I got a call from the hospital saying that my surgery had been pushed back to 3pm, then 4pm, then 5pm, then 6pm. The lack of transparency and failure to stick to the plan given left me feeling SO stressed, and really isn’t what you want before you go under general anaesthesia. His excuse was that he never rushes surgery, I’ve since learned that he feeds you with this BS to come across like a great diligent surgeon, when in actual fact he does the opposite. Every surgery is rushed and he will skip out steps he thinks he can get away with.

After my operation, I found that I could not breathe at all through my nose, and was suspicious that the surgery had not gone as agreed. I requested my hospital notes from both the hospital and Elsa, but no one seemed to want to hand them over. After several weeks of persistence, I finally recieved them from the hospital, to find that Stefano had not implemented the agreed grafts, causing my nasal valve to collapse. He has also pinched the middle third of my nose which leaves me totally unable to breathe through my nose.

I have been to his clinic 4 times since my operation and each time he has dismissed my new breathing issues as swelling, assuring me this would settle by the year mark.

After enduring the most torturous year of mouth breathing, I got in touch with him to request that he does a revision. He would not agree to this, even when I showed him that I have a no win no fee medical negligence lawyer arranged. He simply doesn’t care, and is happy to cause huge trauma to his patients, to save an hour of his time.

I have since seen an ent who has confirmed that the agreed grafts were very necessary and has quoted me £25000 to revise the mess that he caused, and implement the grafts. Furthermore, my new surgeon will be dealing with lots of scar tissue so my result will never be as good as it could have been, had Stefano had bothered to stick to the agreement.

He also rasped my nasal bridge unevenly, leaving me with an unsightly bump on what used to be my beautiful smooth bridge.

I am now in the process of taking him to court after giving him two chances to agree to rectify the breathing and aesthetic issues caused by him.

If you are considering surgery with this Dr, feel free to message me.
