Consultation review: Not Impressed
ORIGINAL POST
Not Impressed
Went for a consultation a few months ago for rhinoplasty to correct a little bulbous tip and add refinement, fix deviated septum and to correct a little chin chub. Paid $250. Had photos taken by assistant who was nice. Dr. Z comes in and without even looking at my nose or touching my face he basically tells me that he can’t do anything for me, that any work he does would only provide minor improvement if any. That I wasn’t a candidate for rhinoplasty. Said I had extremely thick skin (which I don’t. It’s on the thicker side but by no means extremely thick) which is likely to cause scar tissue which precludes my nasal tip from achieving definition. He said he wouldn’t put me through a rhinoplasty only to have minimal change, if any.
He nevertheless took me to his office where he attempted to show me a side view image and how a nose job would only make me look “weird.” When I asked him about my chin, he said I was a candidate for a lower neck lift (mind you I’m 39) and proceeded to quote me $26k for the neck lift. His demeanor was dismissive and arrogant and he seemed so sure of himself. His personality was nothing like you see on Instagram, so don’t fall for the hype- Poor bedside manner. He was my first consult and I left his office feeling defeated. Even though he refused me for the procedure I sought, he still kept my consult fee.
I decided to get a second opinion and wow it was a totally different experience. Turns out, I am def a candidate for rhinoplasty and all I needed was a little chin lipo to snatch the jawline. I’m 3 weeks post op with a wonderful doctor and loving my results.
Oh and btw, my friend went for a consult with Dr. Z as well and he quoted her $23k for a straightforward rhinoplasty. I had a rhinoplasty and septoplasty for $10k and the doc did custom tip grafting for me with my septum - we didn’t Plan this. My friend also agreed he had a bad attitude and will likely be going with my surgeon for her procedure.
All in all, he could’ve just told me he wasn’t comfortable working on my nose and to seek another opinion, but instead he gutted me with his negativity and he was so sure of himself. Well guess what? He was wrong. I’m 3 weeks out and still super swollen and I already love my nose. His word is not the end all be all. Seek a second opinion!
