A Nose That Feels Like It Belongs on my Face

So I'm someone who has always been somewhat self conscious of my nose, primarily with the shading, crookedness and slight bump which was always pretty apparent in pictures, so I decided to look into cosmetic procedures to correct these imperfections. Dr. Rockmore was my second Rhinoplasty/Septoplasty consultation. The first doctor I met with seemed fine enough (at another practice), and as someone who had no previous experience with cosmetic procedures and who felt really ready to have the procedure done, I was tempted to just go with that doctor after the initial consult. After all, I was pleased with the before and after pictures of his previous patients which seemed like all I needed to know. My mom urged me to consult with at least one more doctor so I would feel more certain, and I'm really happy I did.

The experience I had with Dr. Rockmore exceeded expectations, really from the second I walked in the door for my consultation. It was kind of one of those "oh, this is how this process should go" moments. Not only is their facility absolutely beautiful, but their staff is friendly, welcoming and really make you feel like you are their main priority. 

Moving on to the actual consultation, I would say the main difference that was strikingly apparent between Dr. Rockmore and the previous doctor I had a consult with was his genuine interest in wanting to understand what I was uncomfortable with. He specifically asked me why I had come in, and what I noticed about my nose that I wasn't particularly happy with. He took the time to listen to my concerns and provided feedback on what was causing the imperfections I was self conscious of, and actually discussed what he would do to correct those. He didn't tell me what he initially noticed with my nose and I really liked that because he clearly wants to help you achieve results YOU are comfortable with. Another concern I had was wanting a natural looking result – I really wanted to look at myself and still feel like I was looking at me when I looked in the mirror. He was very straightforward in explaining that that is always his goal, not to completely change your looks but to "refine" the features you already have to help you feel like a more comfortable/attractive version of yourself.

I left that consult knowing he understood what I wanted changed, and also knowing specifically what he would be doing during my surgery to help me feel more comfortable with my nose. And that was starkly different than my previous consult. Frankly, I realized after I left my other consult that I didn't really know specifically what he was going to do during surgery, and that really isn't how you should feel going into a surgery that is going to affect your appearance and that you're paying a large sum of money for. 

Overall, I would definitely recommend Dr. Rockmore and will be going to him if I ever decide to explore other cosmetic procedures.
