Very nervous
Sad
I didn't have an issue with the appearance of my nose before surgery, i actually really liked my nose. all I wanted was my deviated septum straightened out and my breathing problems fixed. He convinced me to do the rhinoplasty because he "couldn't guarantee my nostrils to be equal with just a Septoplasty." After I paid for the rhino, he then told me he couldn't guarantee my nostrils to be the same size even tho that's why i booked the rhino in the first place.. now I'm left with this mess:(
when i agreed to the rhino, we agreed to fix the small bump in my bridge that you can't see but can feel (it's still there), make the tip less square/bulbous (it is less square but still is bulbous and lacks definition) and even out my nostrils. my nostrils still are uneven but larger. And now it looks pushed in from the side instead of rounding out from the tip at the columella. It no longer has definition on the bridge or turns up at the tip. One nostril is much wider than the other. The bulb on one side is lower than the other. I still can't breathe. My scars are not fading at all. The scar is huge and uneven. On the inside, the cartilage is detached from the skin. I think cartilage is exposed because it hurts most of the time.
Less than a week after surgery, my nose kept bleeding a lot so I knew there was an issue. I kept calling about it because my discharge papers said if that happened to call right away. I called 5 times and they kept saying they'd have someone call me back, but they never did. On my follow up FaceTime I said how my cartilage is detached from my skin. They said that wasn't possible and dismissed the issue.
I'm really sad that I paid $20,000 for this. I could have paid half for much better results elsewhere. This entire experience has been bad from the moment I made the consultation. I really regret this and I know they won't fix it because they don't offer revision. Please do your research before booking. I can't afford to fix this so now I just have to live with it, which wouldn't be so terrible if my nose didn't constantly hurt from the detachment on the inside. I feel so ugly I miss my old nose :(

I visited Dr Kassir in NYC a few years ago. At that time, he offered complementary consultation. I recall that there were many people in the waiting room and TVs were on and they showed Dr Kassir. In Manhattan, whether it's a restaurant, clothing store, etc there are crowds everywhere. When I was called in, the assistant spent about 10 minutes with me and showed that one side of my face was wider than the other on a computer screen. Then Dr Kassir came in the office and he was standing and I was standing. He spent a few minutes with me and that was it. He just seemed like a very busy person and he probably won't remember what my specific requests are so I did not go with him for surgery.
For rhinoplasty, he was going charge about $16k, chin implant $8k and hair transplant on the right temple $7k. Truth be told, he would probably had rented a hair technician. The technicians travel around and do the hair transplants. They would tell the doctors the depth and angle of the slits on the scalp. Then the technicians would insert the hair follicles. It is a dirty secret, but it occurs. Dr Kassir is a plastic surgeon and not a hair transplant surgeon. Instead, I went to Istanbul, Turkey and had a full blown hair transplant for $3.5k and the procedure lasted about 8 hours. There is no way that Dr Kassir would spend 8 hours for a hair transplant. He is just too busy. The technician would be doing most if not all the work.
Even though Dr Kassir was an ENT, he is probably a little rusty at it. Tonsillectomy is a simple procedure, but the aftercare is critical. About 3% have complications. After tonsillectomy, after your scabs fall off, you may have uncontrollable bleeding and you may need to go back to the doctor so he can recauterize or graft and place a flap on the surgical sites or worse yet you need a blood transfusion. On youtube, there was a premed that had this procedure and he ended up in the ER 3 or 4 times. Very, very rarely, one can die from it as well. Dr Kassir won't have the time to take care of you. At least that is what I think.
I had tonsillectomy earlier this year. It was a very painful experience. I had a soda can so I can spit into it. At its worst, you wake up every couple of minutes when you sleep and spit into the can. Some people even refused to eat and lost weight, some more than 10 pounds. For me, I ate and I did not lose weight. However, I was sweating when I ate due to the pain. Also, for the first few days, I had a fever with chills and I stayed in bed for most of the time. I had health insurance and it was paid for.
I think you should get your tonsillectomy from a practicing ENT separately so you can recover from that only. You want an ENT that does tonsillectomy at least twice a month. You should ask Dr Kassir for some of your money back. Also $47k is a lot for what you are getting done. Ask whether there will be a substantial discount if you need revisions. I remember when I had numerous procedures done, my surgeon said I will have something that will not go right so I should plan on having it redone.
Super excited and Reassured!
I showed up to the office to make a payment without calling first. Everyone in the office was so accommodating. I was expecting to just make a payment and be on my way. Instead, they allowed me to complete my pre-op while I was there rather than making me come again before my surgery. Wow - amazing.
While completing paperwork, Natasha answered ALL the questions I had. She is very knowledgeable and addressed my every concern. I may have misinterpreted her fast and blunt answers as condescending when I first spoke to her months ago. I tend to over-analyze when I’m nervous. She is actually really kind, understanding, and patient. I asked probably a hundred questions, even repeating some of the same questions multiple times because I’m forgetful. She listened carefully and answered thoroughly. I felt important and understood, not like just a number.
Regarding some of my concerns with my initial review: I realized that the reason why I did not receive a confirmation/receipt was neither my fault nor theirs, as it was a misunderstanding. Part of my first payment was wired from a friend’s bank account, so they didn’t know it was mine. As for today, I was emailed a receipt as well as thorough details on all my procedures.
Another thing I realized during my visit was how high in demand Kassir is! There were two different phones ringing off the hook the whole time I was there. They’re actually really organized for how busy they are. This would explain the delayed consultations some people have experienced, but they tell you about it beforehand anyways. The volume of prospective patients also explains the strict no-refund policy because their schedules are so tight and time is valuable.
Anyways, after completing the payment and paperwork, I was able to meet Dr. Kassir - which I really appreciated. He was very sweet, calm, and confident - which made me feel at ease. I was a bit worried that I may be getting too much done, but he assured me everything will be okay and that he’s an expert.
Dr. Kassir was very reassuring without being pushy. He assessed my tonsils since i wanted laser reduction and they were hard to see on facetime. He stated that I would better benefit from a tonsillectomy whether he or another ENT would do it, which was totally up to me. I said I would love for him to do it while i was already under, but that I was nervous about that recovery. He assured me everything will go smoothly and that I may even stay in NJ for as long as I’d like so that he could check on me.
Dr. Kassir is a triple board certified ENT who is very experienced and well-known. I trust that my face is in the best hands possible. Dr. Kassir has been the doctor I wanted to do my surgery for years and I’m sad that I ever had any doubts. Even then, I still wanted to see him because he’s the only doctor capable to do all the things I want done. I’m so happy about how today went with Dr. Kassir’s office. Now that my concerns have been resolved, I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am for my surgery. I know that my face is in the best hands! March can’t come fast enough!!

Rhinoplasty is the most complex of all plastic surgeries. Surgeons are cutting, moving things around, stiching and might even be adding on the inside to affect the external appearance of the nose. You're still early. Some doctors say you have to wait several years to see the final appearance. A lot of the end appearance has to do with the shrink wrap effect.
Since your scar is under your nose, it is considered to be the central part of the face. For many but not all patients, that part of the face tends to heal well. Always apply sunscreen, even if you are outside to pick up your mail and run back home. Some dermatalogists even recommend applying sunscreen indoors, but it is difficult to comply. You cannot have uv radiation contacting your scar. It might make things worse. Since we are in a pandemic, we all should be wearing face masks anyway and that offers a tiny bit of uv radiation protection.
After close to a year, you can try laser genesis, fraxel, microneedling, IPL on the scar. I had my Adam's apple shaved down and I still have a red scar after 3 years. I bought a cheap microneedling device on eBay and use it every 2 weeks for more than a year now, but the red scar is still there. By the way, I am a man and happy being a man, but I have a protrusive Adam's apple due to my slendar frame. You can go on Groupon and find cheap deals to laser, microneedling, IPL, etc.
Don't be too discouraged. It might take years to fully heal. We all should be wearing face masks, so it won't be too noticeable.
