Worth It!!!

The search:
I searched for surgeons all across the U.S. for over a year and had multiple consultations. I’m happy with my decision to go with Dr. Yash.

The consultation:
A few days before my consultation with Dr. Yash, I met with another surgeon who recommended additional surgeries (brow lift, fillers, lip lift) to “compliment” the rhinoplasty. I considered these add ons and spoke to Dr. Yash about them. He kindly took the time to listen and ultimately advised against the extras. He said it’s best to take things slow, especially at my age (24). (He was not concerned with the money he was losing by advising against them.) His honest, thoughtful advice shifted my perspective. I took a few days and realized that I did not want those additional surgeries and I am very grateful for his honest opinion.

Day of surgery:
The day of my surgery was smooth sailing. Some highlights included a kind staff, clean hospital and being given a warm blanket and a personal heater while I waited. (I’m always cold so I loved that detail!)

What I’d do differently:
My experience was great but these are the things I would’ve changed if I had to do it all over again:

Clothing-
First, I’d bring loose sweatpants to dress in after the surgery. I chose to wear leggings that were a bit tight and difficult to put on after. I also recommend bringing a warm loose jacket, with a zipper, so nothing has to go over your head.

Hydration-
During the healing process I’d hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! From pedialyte, Powerade, orange juice and water. I did not push enough liquids with the medication I was taking and it caused A LOT of problems.

Monitor bowel movements-
I’d also monitor my bowel movements and ask about taking a probiotic. If you haven’t had a bowel movement make sure you’re hydrating, taking walks and let Dr. Yash know. This can prevent a huge medical bill from the hospital.

Medications-
Spread out your medication!!!! By a few hours. This will save you from having a huge hospital bill!!!

Things I’m glad I did:
* Stopped taking the pain meds as soon the pain is manageable. I stopped after a few days.
* Had someone take care of me during recovery. It took me about 1 week to feel better.
* Took time to relax and reviewed the directions several times to make sure i was following all advice/post op instructions.
* Trusted the process. My nose looked so swollen and went through lots of changes. I am 3ish month post op and love the results. But the first 1-2 months was rough. Trust the process.

Final thoughts:
My rhinoplasty changed my entire face but my favorite part is it still looks natural. No one can tell I had a rhinoplasty unless they are my close friends/family members who see me often. If you’re considering Dr. Yash as your doctor my advice is to do it. (:
