Mr Lucian Ion is the BEST

As a doctor myself, I am aware that surgical rhinoplasty is one of the most complex surgeries to perform and get right. I never hated my nose, but it was an insecurity of mine. I felt my tip was too bulbous and I did not like my hump on my side profile.

I have done extensive research into doctors in the UK and the USA over the past several years. Due to my studies and work commitments, I never quite found the right time to undergo surgery until this year. The thought of travelling to the US was daunting and I was worried about the risk of complications arising after rhinoplasty. Therefore, my plan was to find a UK specialist in rhinoplasty.

I had a consultation with a rhinoplasty specialist who to my surprise declined operating on me – he felt my surgery would not produce a good outcome as my skin was too thick. He did offer reduction of my dorsal hump but achieving a smaller, more defined nasal tip was unpredictable in my case. He did however recommend I see Mr Lucian Ion who he spoke very highly of. As this doctor was a specialist himself, I really did value his opinion and it was clear this doctor had a lot of respect for Mr Ion.

I luckily managed to see Mr Ion in April of this year for a consultation and after my discussion with him, I 100% knew he was the doctor for me. He is very polite, friendly, and softly spoken. What stood out for me was his confidence in being able to correct my nasal tip. I was aware that hump reduction is a straightforward surgical procedure but nasal tip shaping however is what requires exceptional surgical skills. Unlike the previous doctor who was unsure, Mr Ion was confident. I was very impressed with the assessment in comparison to others I have had in the US. Mr Ion took numerous photos, measurements and used software to create post-surgery images of my nose. The plan was to reduce my dorsal hump, create a more defined nasal tip with alar base reduction (alarplasty).

Everything went so smoothly. Aime and Katrina were both fantastic in organising my surgery. On the day of surgery, Mr Ion discussed the plan with me again. Naturally I was very nervous but speaking to him made me feel so much better. After surgery, Mr Ion came to see how I was doing. He was very impressed I had no bruising and reassured me that the surgery went very well. The next few days were extremely challenging but so worth it! I was very careful with my diet making sure I avoided salt. I incorporated lots of fresh fruit especially pineapple.

I saw Mr Ion again on day 3 and then finally day 7 to remove my splint. I had mentally prepared myself that I was going to hate it as I knew it was going to be extremely swollen. Although it was swollen and rather wide, I liked it! I knew once that had settled, I would love my nose. I was realistic and hopeful. Mr Ion removed my stitches and was really pleased with the result.

After two weeks, my swelling subsided further, and I loved my new nose even more! It was exactly what I discussed with Mr Ion. My hump was reduced, and my nostril tip was more refined and symmetrical. It was so natural and complimented the rest of my face.

Now at almost 4 months, I am still in love with my new nose. It’s not 100% perfection but I never wanted perfection. My new nose suits my Indian ethnicity and compliments the rest of my face. It is a huge improvement from what I previously had.

I can’t recommend Mr Ion enough. Before and after surgery, any query I had, Mr Ion and his team would address it efficiently. I felt so looked after. Mr Ion is an incredibly talented surgeon who listened carefully to what I wanted and given me so much more. I can’t wait to see how my nose heals even more over the next few months and I am looking forward to seeing Mr Ion next May for my one year review!
