I was left with 2 bumps on my nose

Dr Uppal carried out my rhinoplasty surgery in 2017. The procedure was to correct my deviated septum and to reduce the size of my nose, by shaving down the hump.
Several weeks after my surgery some swelling had gone and I was left with 2 bumps on my nose; One at the top, which felt very much like bone and another in the center to above the tip. In addition, the right side of my tip had caved in.
Dr Uppal advised that the bumps were a result of scar tissue and with a little applied pressure and tape the bumps would eventually go. When that did not work, he tried a steroid injection, which just made the bumps more prominent. His third solution was revision surgery, which I regretfully agreed to. Dr Uppal went back into my nose while I was awake. Having gone back into my nose, Dr Uppal continued to assure me it was scar tissue.
For the past two years I continued to email with Dr Uppal and he continued to reassure me the bumps would eventually go. I have since had facial x-ray's and visited several cosmetic surgeons in LA who have advised me the bumps are not scar tissue. They are in fact bone and cartilage, caused by excess removal from the center of the nose. Dr Uppal was either fully aware that the bone could not be removed with his THREE techniques of applied pressure, steroid injections and corrective surgery, which would make him fully incompetent. Or he did know, making him negligent.
No apology or compensation received. I am now awaiting a consultation for extremely expensive corrective surgery.
I advised everyone to wait a year after surgery before leaving a review, as the nose can change so much within that time period.

No mine is coming, I just keep re-writing it and was stupidly listening to all his talk about revision until other patients started contacting...

DO NOT GO BACK TO HIM! My nose was worse after his revision. It did nothing but make things worse. He said my nose was bumpy from scar tissue. It was bone!!! How could he have not known that? He may have done and was buying himself time to delay my complaint. Or he really did believe it was scar tissue, which would make him the most incompetent cosmetic surgeon that ever lived.

Sorry, I shouldn't sway your decision. My experience with his 'revision' was just awful. Plus you are awake during the procedure. Just something to think about.

I had a similar experience with Mr Uppal. He operated on me while I was awake in his office and tried to shave down my bridge to correct my first surgery with him, which made it worse. He is oblivious to how much his negligent actions can ruin someone’s life. I think about this pretty much everyday and have never been the same person since.

So I found out that the reason why Mr Uppal hasn’t been properly investigated is because he in on the board of the BAAPS, which means there is no one above him to contact/investigate him for negligence because he is part of the group of people who do that.
I almost get the impression he’s positioned himself there for this reason as he knows it will allow him to continue to get away without being investigated as I am shocked he is still allowed to perform this procedure. The system is flawed I’m afraid.

I agree, enough is enough now, if people don’t do something he’s going to carry on doing it. Maybe try speaking to revision specialists in london such as Mr East, Lucian Ion etc and seeing if they are able to provide a comment on the levels of revision consultations/surgeries they’ve seen from Mr Uppal patients.
I’m not sure the GMC take you seriously unless you’ve come to harm from the operation, not if the procedure was unsuccessful. I think the gmc would see this as the latter unless the complaint is collective.

I don't think BAAPS are doing much good for their reputation by keeping surgeons like him on board. If the word spreads they won't stand to mean much to anyone.

Hi there. Recently found this site. This surgeon carried out procedures on myself over the course of over 2 years it was. At first he came across so helpful and understanding to my needs, as I had lost a lot of weight and had loose skin. So, all was done in regards to the pictures and so on and so forth. To cut a long story short, he has totally made me disfigured in my abdo/sides/bottom of my stomach. And I am now having to have reconstructive surgeries, at another surgeon who. Is top in his field and knows his stuff thank god I have found someone who understands. And who doesn’t try to sweep his mistakes or blame his f*ck ups on anything else! Steer clear from him! He has added to my mental health which is poorly right now, and he has made me feel even horrible and worse than before I had the procedure! But I am now with a team who thankfully are helping me. The team now. Take the time and effort to sit down and talk to you, they go over everything thing. They take the time to understand and they also take time to see the damage caused mentally and physically due to what this uppal has done. Anyway as I said. I am new on here. Not sure if my comment will see this page maybe get posted I don’t know lol. But hope your well and sorted :)
The whole experience for me has been extremely damaging both mentally and physically and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I really hope that you receive compensation and you can move on from this. Wishing you the best of luck. I cannot stress enough to anyone reading these comments. Please do your research and stay away from this surgeon!
