Highly Recommend Dr Joo
I chose to go with Dr Joo Oh-young at Eight Plastic Surgery as i felt he understood what i was looking for. (How do you explain please make my nose different enough, but not too different, lol?) E.g. Dr Joo advised me that he understood my desire for a natural result but not enough height/ projection would not adequately address my desire to correct a bulbous tip. He also didn't suggest procedures i didn't request and even suggested skipping procedures in case the result may be too subtle (e.g. canthoplasty, which i was okay with). Perhaps the best part is that he also spoke fluent English so I never felt anything was being lost in translation.
As for the clinic itself, it can be considered medium-big but not factory-like imo. I liked that they were big enough to have great facilities and resources for dealing with foreigners. But not factory-like so that i was getting a one size fits all approach and not so busy that it took days to get a response.
* Procedures
For my nose, my concerns were that the bottom of my nose was a bit wide from the front, especially when i smiled. Additionally from the side the projection of the tip was a bit low.
For my eyes, I liked my natural eye / lid shape but always felt that slightly longer eyes would be more balanced with the width of my face.
After my consultation with Dr Joo, I decided to go ahead with bulbous tip correction and bridge augmentation for my nose and lateral canthoplasty for my eyes. For my nose, we used donated rib and my own ear cartilage for the tip, for the bridge we used a silicone implant.
* Results
Currently i am only 4 weeks out and still kind of swollen. However, particularly over the last week or so, I feel like i can see the result and it is all heading in the right direction. Some mornings I wake up to a super cute nose that was pretty close to what I had envisioned but then at some point the swelling will hit again.
I suppose rhinoplasty is a bit of a waiting game to see results. (Also wish i had known!) When my nose cast came off on Day 7, i was shocked - so much swelling! My nose was huge... super projected and also rather wide. The canthoplasty healing progressed more quickly and the results were subtle but more immediate, even before stitches were removed. But the swelling for rhinoplasty was something else!
But indeed, now my nose is not bulbous anymore and more projected. My nose has slimmed from the front view and my side profile is more 3D.
All in all, i am really happy with my decision to take the leap and do these plastic surgeries. Dr Joo at Eight did a fantastic job - he understood what i wanted to achieve and I like my new nose more and more everyday. I can't wait to heal fully to see the final result. Its good to share experiences for others considering the same procedure.
