Find a surgeon who values transparency, professionalism, and patient care.

I had a rhinoplasty with Dr. Mazen Harake at the Harake Institute in Troy, Michigan, in October 2024, and my experience was deeply disappointing. While he initially had great bedside manner, it felt like it was all just to reel me in for the procedure. First, the agreed-upon cost was misleading. After the surgery, he tacked on an additional $1,300 for cadaver cartilage, something he never discussed with my daughter who was waiting while I had my surgery, however at my follow up his scheduler “Taz” came running up to me saying he used cartilage. Transparency was lacking, and I felt deceived.

Throughout the process, Dr. Harake never took the time to explain the procedure in detail or set clear expectations. Despite having the technology available, he refused to use his software to show a simulation of what my nose might look like post-surgery, dismissing it as “never realistic.” I trusted him, and while I told him I did not want a short nose or a piggy nose that’s exactly what he gave me.

His staff was another major issue. They were rude and inconsiderate. Seemed like they didn’t communicate to one another and would always have Danielle call me with bad news. As if this wasn’t enough, I would wait 1-2 hours in a patient room, even when I had a scheduled appointment. Post-surgery, I was rescheduled numerous times, adding further frustration to an already stressful situation.

Looking back, I should have trusted my instincts and canceled when he rescheduled my surgery twice. To make matters worse, during one of our conversations, he unprofessionally spoke about his ex-wife, making unnecessary and disparaging comments like “she did everything under the sun.” It was inappropriate and left me questioning his professionalism.

I would NEVER recommend Dr. Harake as he is untrustworthy and uncaring. If you’re considering plastic surgery, please do your research and find a surgeon who values transparency, professionalism, and patient care. This experience has been disheartening, and I regret putting my trust in this practice.

False Information. This practice is known for taking challenging and complex revisions from national and international patients all over the world. Response to your points: 1) You stated "rescheduled numerous times" You were notified that our practice is switching surgeries to a NEW surgical location with many upgrades. You were given the options to wait or have surgery at another surgical center. You by choice elected to wait for the new location. You’re the only one asked for free eyelid surgery as an accommodation. That's being truthful not deceitful. 2) You stated "he refused to use his software to show a simulation of what my nose might look like post-surgery" We have Vectra 3D technology. We stopped doing simulations in 2020 due to these simulations are extremely unrealistic. Dr. Harake went through the skull, anatomy of your nose, diagrams and drawings and actual real life cases. That's being truthful not deceitful. 3. you stated "After the surgery, he tacked on an additional $1,300 for cadaver cartilage, something he never discussed with my daughter" Again, False information. Discussed with you at your consultation and you signed legal documents stating to use if necessary. Again, That's being truthful not deceitful. 4. You stated "you were given a pig nose "We actually are totally against those types of over lifted tip noses. Take a look at our social media Instagram page "Theharakeinstitute" see the outcome. Considering how severe your starting point was you received a drastic improvement. Our social media team has selected you to show a video of your before and after on our Instagram page. 5. Attacking the Dr.'s personal life given you are part of that community is completely unacceptable, and this goes against Social media Policies. Potential Red Flags to having Plastic Surgery: Often discovered after surgery. We wish you health and stability and peace in your personal life. If you need someone to talk to, we are here for you. Good Luck
