Good Not Perfect, Don't Regret It.
WORTH IT$15,000
I've had several procedures performed by Dr. Motykie (facial fat grafting, chin implant, 2 rhinoplasties and 2 chin liposuctions). Although I'm not completely satisfied with my rhinoplasty results, I am happy with it in general and I initially did not blame him. I understood that surgery carries risks and that outcomes can depend heavily on how an individual's body heals.
After my first rhinoplasty, my nose was still quite large, the tip remained very bulbous, and my breathing became worse. Dr. Motykie offered to perform a second rhinoplasty at no charge to address these concerns. Before the second procedure, I emphasized that I wanted a smaller nose with a more pointed, triangular tip, and he indicated that this was achievable.
The second surgery did make my nose smaller overall. However, the tip is still very bulbous, and my breathing became even worse. Three years later, I still have to breathe through my mouth or flare my nostrils widely to get enough airflow, which looks odd and is now a new insecurity.
I don't necessarily blame Dr. Motykie because I also experienced unusually severe swelling after both surgeries. Because I started with a very large nose and required a significant reduction, I recognized that my case was challenging and that there may have been limits to what could realistically be achieved. I think there is sometimes an unrealistic expectation on what is achievable with rhinoplasties. Rhinoplasty can improve the nose someone has, but it cannot always create the exact nose they envision.
The aftercare staff were excellent. The nurses genuinely tried to help manage my swelling as best as possible and continued following up with me for several months. The office was welcoming, surgery day went smoothly, and everyone I interacted with was super kind and helpful.
That said, Dr. Motykie has never posted my before-and-after photos on his website or Instagram. While I understand that not every patient's photos are published, this contributed to my feeling that my results may have been below average.
It has now been three years, and because my breathing has not improved and I remain unhappy with the size and shape of the tip, I am looking for another surgeon that can improve these areas.
All that said, my nose is SIGNIFICANTLY better than what I had before, and it has changed my life for the better. My insecurity about it went from a 10 to probably a 3-4. The facial fat grafting was another life-changing procedure, he did an incredible job with that. I genuinely look pretty now and am very happy with those results.
