Good for Breathing but Lack of Follow-up with Concerns
Celebrated1449October 4, 2024
I had a septo-rhinoplasty and ottoplasty (ears pinned back) 5 years ago. Overall, I think that my experience was OK to good. Overall, the results didn't look as promised but my breathing is better.
- My results were not in line with the photoshop that Dr East did with me in the consultation. I asked for a supra-tip break and for my hanging columella to be addressed but neither of these things happened, and my ears are not symmetrical
- The scarring is quite significant (photo attached)
- My results are aesthetically in line with my face and I would not consider myself 'botched'. It is a 'natural' result and many people didnt notice I had a rhinoplasty!
- My results are high-performing in terms of breathing. I had a deviated septum and this has been fully addressed
- My results are not fully stable. Over the last 5 years a lot has moved around and my nose tip has significantly caved in. You can see the cartilage supports showing through
- The concerns that I had (asymmetry in ears, lack of alignment with expectations, lack of stability, the raised scar on my columella) were all dismissed by Mr East. Most recently, when I raised my concerns around stability and my worries, I was told that I would need to pay £200 to speak to Mr East regarding my concerns and pay £30,000+ for a revision. I was also told that my ear asymmetry shouldn't be addressed due to the covid landscape (back in 2021). In earlier appointments Mr East had suggested I could get "one extra stitch" in my ear in the surgery, or some treatments for my nasal scar, but then very rapidly these never came to fruition and I was told via email that I couldnt get any extra help.

Revision quotation comments

I’m pleased that Mr East is taking this opportunity to review communication protocols. I have attached evidence of the £30,000+ quote I was given that he disputes is accurate. I didn’t pay for another consultation so I cannot comment as to whether he would have changed the quote in clinic but I was asked to sign something that stated I agreed with the £30,000+ number
