Fantastic Experience, Excellent Doctor, Incredible Staff!

This is going to be a long review because I know I enjoyed reading them prior to my surgery. Dr. Robb and his staff are without hesitation the best doctors office I have ever been to. I visited Dr. Robb for a consultation after my dog hit me in the nose and I developed headaches. I had already met with an ENT, and I decided to get a second opinion with Dr. Robb because he was double board certified in ENT and plastic surgery. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!! Dr. Robb was incredibly thorough when explaining to me exactly what was going on in my nose and how he would go about fixing it. He explained that my deviated septum was likely causing the headaches, and it was called "Sluder's syndrome". He asked if I would like to make any changes to the look of my nose and I noted that I had been a little insecure about my nose and was open minded since he was already going to be opening up my nose, so he explained that process as well. He made detailed notes of what was going on and what he would do, and took several pictures where he made notes about my nose. I had instant access to these notes immediately following the treatment. Rita was wonderful and explained that I could get either a standalone septoplasty or a septorhinoplasty and provided quotes for each. There was no selling, and they never made me feel like I needed a rhinoplasty in addition to the septoplasty. The changes he suggested were very conservative, and I felt like there was no way he would just put a "fad-nose" on my face if I chose to do the septorhinoplasty.

Here are the reasons I chose Dr. Robb:
1) this guy is an ENT first, plastic surgeon second when it comes to your nose. He is all about function and making sure that your nose works well and looks good. Check out his credentials and why he got into plastic surgery in the first place--this guy really cares about improving people's lives.
2) the office is so clean I would actually eat a candy if it dropped on the floor
3) everyone in the place is super delightful and they are all very thorough--totally people you can trust to take care of you
4) While Dr. Robb was more expensive that other doctor's price ranges I looked at online, he also has his own surgery center, and that was worth a little extra. This guy runs a tight ship and everything is super clean and they even make sure the temperature is appropriate for surgery. He is not cutting corners anywhere in this business and it is very apparent. It's literally the cleanest, most orderly doctors office I've been to.
5) the ultrasonic tool sounded way better than hammers and chisels!
6) he mentioned international rhinoplasty techniques as he was explain to me, and he is very up to date with the best practices in nose surgery.

I made a super quick decision and there was an opening, so I had my surgery in less than a month after my first call with Rita. I'm not going to lie, I was totally freaked out and questioning if I was making the right decision by having the surgery (not in choosing Dr. Robb, that was a no-brainer). All of the sudden, the nose I had been insecure about looked fine, and even beautiful to me, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to change it. I thought I could breathe just fine, and the only issue with my deviated septum was that it was pressing on my turbinate and causing headaches. I had major cold feet, and I have to be honest and say that if I didn't have such confidence in Dr. Robb and his team, I may have backed out.

I went forward with the surgery and as far as a surgery goes, I can't imagine it being any better. Everyone was so nice the day of surgery and they made me feel completely at ease. As with the consultation, the surgery room was immaculate, and there was fun music playing in there. The minute they hooked me up to the anesthesia, I was out and didn't remember anything until I was home in bed several hours later.

I wasn't sure what to expect, I was hoping the ultrasonic was going to be a less painful recovery than what I had read about in other realself reviews. Here are the worst parts from my experience--I hated how the anesthesia made me feel, and I did not enjoy not being able to breathe at night for four days following the surgery while the splints were in. The rest of the experience was pretty low key. I did have some swelling in my face, but no bruising at all and the splints caused a weird feeling that I didn't like, but I wouldn't say I was in pain. I didn't take any pain pills or even Tylenol. I worked the very next day remotely and my coworkers said I was definitely swollen, but they were shocked I was attending meetings in the days following the surgery.

Once they took the splints out(which is quick but gross), I could breathe like I had never breathed before. I thought my breathing was fine before, and I could not believe the difference. It was almost like too much air was going up my nose at first! Five days after surgery I could breathe better, the swelling went down and I was back to normal with a nose cast.

I'm six weeks out now and I am super happy with the state of my nose. When the cast first came off, I was a little shocked with the way it looked--it was super swollen, so it looked a little like a turned up piggy nose. The nurse explained that Dr. Robb does things in surgery to account for the healing process, because scar tissue and gravity with affect things as the nose heals-- just another example of how much Dr. Robb pays attention to detail, and he is thinking about your nose for the long haul.

Overall, I could not be more happy with the whole experience with Dr. Robb's office. If you are considering a septoplasty/rhinoplasty, or both, I would 100% recommend Dr. Robb. He's worth traveling for and there is a hotel right down the way if you're not from Georgia.
