My Rhinoplasty Experience at JW Plastic Surgery (Seoul, Korea)

3 weeks after Rhinoplasty - News

WORTH IT
Hi Guys !

For those who may have read my first review about my Rhinoplasty adventure in Korea (a few weeks ago already : https://www.realself.com/review/rhinoplasty-experience-jw-plastic-surgery-seoul-korea ), here is some news from the past 3 weeks !

5 days after surgery:
My nose splint has been removed 5 days after surgery. I felt a bit anxious to see my nose even if I knew it would not be the final result. But actually, it was not as swollen as I thought it would be. However my face looked very tired, first because of the bruising around my eyes which definitely emphasized my dark circles; but also because the last five nights I spent without sleeping. I still had the impression to wear the splint though. I could still feel this pressure and numbness in my nose.

I had to wait a bit more before removing the stitches. The healing went a bit slow on me, which is why I understand now why it is important to eat healthy and take really care of the stitches area. Before going back home.

7 days after surgery:
I’ve been provided LED (Light Emitting Diode) treatment to help reduce nose swelling. Actually I didn’t notice any real difference on the outside, I mean my nose especially tip was still looking swollen. But after several sessions I could feel that my nose was less numbed.

Stitches have finally been removed. Dr Suh checked my nose, especially the bones that have been moved during surgery. The nurse also washed my hair that started to get oily. This was very convenient actually because I didn’t feel comfortable about the idea of washing my hair with my nose being sensitive and the remaining stitches.

I went back home and deeply checked my nose. It was already looking cuter and more feminine even if it was big especially the tip. But it was very weird to see that I couldn’t feel anything while touching my nose tip. The tip skin was very hard and insensitive. But this feeling is likely to persist for months until my nose is completely healed.

It’s been 3 weeks now and my skin tip feel still a bit hard and insensitive. However, I feel more comfortable now and even if I should avoid to do that, I can smile and make small facial expressions. My nose shape is getting more natural even if it is getting swollen on the morning.

Here are some pics before surgery/ 3 weeks after surgery.

I’m surprised to see that it looks very natural. To be honest, I didn’t tell anybody about my rhinoplasty, except my best friend. And up to now, nobody discovered the thing or even notice a change. But for me, my nose looks really different and I am finally able to assume it without any makeup or contouring. I can even say that now, I really like my nose.

I hope this was helpful for you guys^^ If you have any questions, feel free to ask :)

BYYYYE ! :)

Love your new nose! This was very interesting to read as someone who has considered flying to Korea for a nose job :) I'm from Finland. Could you tell about the prices? How much did it cost to have the surgery? Did you have any kind of "medical tourism" pack with the surgery , accommodation + flights or did you buy flights and everything on your own? How long did you stay in Korea?
@TiaPi thank you !!! Well actually plastic surgery was not the main reason of my venue in Korea. I was thinking at starting a new life here in Korea as I really love this culture, people etc. After a while, I found a job in Seoul and realized that it was THE opportunity for me to get a nose job here. So as you can guess, I'm currently living and working in Seoul :) Concerning the price, it really depends on the kind of job you want to have and how much work it requires. In my case, my nose needed osteostomia which is a more complex procedure, tip reduction and lowering of the upper part of the nose. For this, the surgery was quoted 7,000,000won (~5300euros). However, you can easily get some discount in Korea if you ask. Concerning packs, I know some surgery clinics are working with some platforms such as DocFinderKorea to offer complete services. However, those extra-services really affect the cost of surgery, that's why I chose to book everything on my own and be sure. And to be honnest, once you know how to proceed, where to find accomodation, flights and how transportation in Seoul works, this is really not a big deal :) If you need more specific information about that, let me know :)
Tu n'as vraiment pas l'air marquée!
See ya :)
Wow it looks really beautiful! I’m planning to get surgery in 1 year, even there’s still a lot of time I want to plan everything now :) It was so helpful for me to read about your experience bc I‘m still not sure which clinic I should choose and that I‘m also a foreigner (Austrian) makes it a lot harder. :)
I did read the comments below and I‘m so happy for you that you got a job there :) Do you speak korean too?

I really like to thank you to share you experience with us it helps me a lot :)
Hi!!! i'm also french from Paris, and thinking of getting mine in Korea for the same reason than you!
Actually very very conscious about choosing the right surgeon, and right clinic to have a very good procedure.

So far i LOVE the work you had on your nose, how is the healing going?
I'm also very interested into the price you had to pay, my nose is very similar to yours on your "before" picture, so your review is actually VERY HELPFUL.

(Even tho we both french, i comment in english in case someone could be helped by your answer!)

Hope you're still very happy with the result!!! :)

10 Days after surgery - news

Hi Guys !
Here are some pics before surgery (left) and 10 days after surgery (right). My nose is still swollen but I can already see the results !! Just to remind you: I wanted to narrow my nose bridge and tip and lower the upper part of my nose. I think my nose looks much more feminine and softer. What do you guys think ?

You are so beautiful
Your nose looks beautiful!

I am thinking of having similar rhinoplasty at the same clinic in Korea. Without meaning to sound too crude, may I ask what the general cost was for surgery and accommodation?

Thanks so much, Jess

Hello guys !
I’m a French girl from Paris!
I just wanted to share my first Rhinoplasty experience in Korea, because some people might find this experience helpful. I’ve been thinking to it for 2 years since I was self-conscious about my nose, too wild and disproportionate regarding my face. As a foreigner, I had a hard time choosing a Korean clinic familiar with Caucasian noses. Also, I was thinking that my experience at JW Clinic could help you guys to make the right decision.
So why Korea ? Korea has a very high reputation in terms of surgery. They have a lot of experience and I really like the way they are performing Rhinoplasty, giving a very defined and sweet nose result. But my main concern was that they might be not familiar with Caucasian noses. And it is true that most of their commercials shows only Asian face results… For this reason, I decided to focus only on Korean clinics that have experience with Caucasian customers.
Among them, JW Plastic Surgery Clinic was the first to reply in a very short time. I had a look at their Youtube channel which shows different reviews of Asian and foreigner patients. I realized that they appeared in a famous French TV show speaking about their surgery job and emphasizing the fact that French people have been there already. This gave me confidence and hope. I explained my current situation and sent several pics of my face. I was very impressed by their kindness and their ability to speak in English. Emily, who was making the connection between the surgeon and me, took time to reply to all my questions. She gave me Dr Suh’s diagnosis regarding my nose, which convinced me that they’ve got what I wanted as a final result. They were however realistic and tempered their remarks by explaining the final surgery plan might change after having seen by nose properly.
I booked the date for consultation and surgery 2 months and a half before the appointment. Three weeks before, Emily sent me all the recommendations and things to do/not do before surgery. She also explained me in details how they will proceed this day. For that, I found the video reports on their Youtube channel very interesting and helpful (https://www.youtube.com/user/JWplasticsurgeryKOR )
13th March: Arrival in Seoul, Korea. My consultation was at 2:30pm. The clinic is located in Gangnam-Gu, district renowned for its numerous surgery clinics. At my arrival, they immediately took care of me; Emily was guiding me everywhere in the clinic and was also there during the consultation with Dr Suh, my surgeon. They first took some pics of my face to make a comparison before/after surgery. I also did a head scan and radiography.
During the consultation, Dr Suh looked and touched at my nose. He clearly told me what he could do and what he could not do regarding my safety. In my case, my nose initially looked like a Roman nose profile, very strong and straight. I wanted to lower the upper part of my nose so that I can have this small gap between nose and front (that almost everybody has). But Dr Suh told me this was too unsafe to be proceeded regarding how my nose was built. However, he was able to narrow the nose bridge and tip, initially very wild. I really appreciated the fact that they considered not only the aesthetic view but also my safety. I finally accepted the changes suggested. After a few more medical exams, I went back home and tried (hardly) to sleep until the next day.
14th March: Day of surgery. I was asked to come 30minutes before surgery. At the clinic, I changed my clothes, washed my face and waited in a room until the anaesthetist came. I started to feel anxious as I was realizing what was going to happen. First surgery. But at the same time, I was excited thinking at my nose being more esthetical…. Slowly opening my eyes. The surgery was over and lasted around 3 hours. They kept me during 2 hours after surgery to be sure that I could go back home safely. I was given all the medication and extra care. Emily carefully explained me how I should proceed from now. They finally called me a cab to go back home. I didn’t feel any pain or nausea after surgery, just extremely tired. During the 2 days after surgery, I couldn’t breathe because of packings that have been put in my nose to avoid intense swelling and bleeding. I just had to be patient.
My nose started swelling one day after surgery as Emily told me previously. I‘ve been provided deswelling treatment to control it, even if this is a very unescapable post-operative effect. Now it’s been 3 days since I’ve been operated. My nose packings have been removed yesterday but I still have difficulties breathing because of the swelling. However my nose is not as painful as I thought it would be. They said stitches will be removed in 2 days and I will then be able to wash my face! I can’t wait to see the results!
If you guys have any questions about my experience, feel free to ask!
I am not sure whether my experience at JW is helpful or not, but I hope you guys like this !
Will come back later with further experience :)
