Grossly asymmetrical nostrils & breathing worse than pre-surgery

I knew I was going to have a rhinoplasty some day but every surgeon I had interviewed didn't seem to be a good match for me, I needed someone I could trust 100%, who is a facial plastic surgeon and a great person:)
I had booked interviews with several surgeons in Massachusetts but after meeting Dr. Bentkover I cancelled others.
I booked my surgery right after the initial appointment, because one hour was more than enough to know that this is My surgeon and we are great team:)
My surgery was a week ago and I my cast was taken off today and I, honestly, was blown away. I cried tears of joy, when I saw myself in the mirror. This is the face that I was meant to have, it looks so perfect and feminine and I absolutely love it..
Before the surgery I felt very nervous, I called the office multiple times, most of the time with the same questions and every time his staff was helpful, understanding, reassuring and patient.
Every visit Sarah assisted Dr. Bentkover and she's absolutely fabulous; she's helpful, sweet, very caring and with great sense of humor:)
I just love the entire team, I highly recommend Dr. Bentkover, they are the best in New England!

With a glowing review like this, it's only natural for us to be curious about before and after's. As I'm considering this doctor, I'd love to see some.

This is Dr. Bentkover. I am still recovering from a prolonged, life threatening illness. There is nothing "sketchy" about my health. My staff has been trying to explain to patients as they call that we still do not have a return date. I hope to be back by April 1. Please call and we will schedule you when we can. Remember that I tend to wait until 18 months post op to do any revision work. I will truly try to make all of you happy. I apologize for any inconvenience and disappointment you may have.

This is the current look and I am so embarrassed to leave the hose, I stay in 90% of my time.

Can you show us a pic of original nose and tell us what your goals were for this surgery ? I'm sorry for what's going on with your nose at the moment . Hang in there and try to remain calm and positive

I don't have a photo of my nose from that perspective.
It was not uneven like that at all, I just had a very long nose with large nostrils, it was straight before.

No, it's not the swelling, they are completely different shapes and sizes. Botched, I would say.

Well, first I need to go to my next appointment and I think I will need to have another surgery, my nostrils are completely different in shape and size... I wrote my review on the day they took off the cast, my nose was so swollen it was very hard to see that it's completely asymmetric. Once the swelling went down a bit all the issues were obvious.

i hope you will update. i have gone through a very successful revision, but my nostrils were a bit weird at first due to the swelling. i hope yours resolves, but the shape from the front to me looks nice, i just can't tell if those are after photos or before. if they are after, i think you are in great shape. i see the base though, but the rest looks great. these things are not an exact science as I'm sure all of us found out one way or another. anyway, sending you the best babe.

You are right, it's fine in general but the tip is a mess and I've been so overwhelmed with their lack of responsiveness.

Hi, I came across your post and I just wanted to send you positive vibes on your recovery, I'm sorry that you're going through a rough time right now. I'm researching doctors in Central Mass (I'm from the area) and I'm just curious as to what your opinions were of this doctor?

I still think he is great, I did my homework and chose the best one in the area, I have contacted his past patients and they all had only amazing reviews. Things must have gone wrong during the surgery and I think I will need a revision. He is very professional, staff is amazing.
My appointment was moved 2 weeks back, I will update on what he things is the next step.

thanks so much for the insight! I hope you continue to update us on your journey because I'd love to see if it's just uneven swelling that you have. I've noticed that Dr. Bentkover only posts before and after's a year after surgery

yes, he does:) it's an emotional journey because it is on your face and there is no way to avoid seeing it. Dr. Bentkover is brilliant and I can't wait to see him in 2 weeks. I will update here as well.

I have been out of work with a severe illness since September. I talked to this patient today a re=assured her that I will alter her asymmetrical nostrils when I come back. She seemed ok with that.

This is a strange way to handle a patient who is having a poor experience post op in my opinion. It makes you look like you care more about your appearance over the quality of your work and your patients health, at least to me.

I took 10 years to make sure I choose the right surgeon and this was my biggest fear..

Once the swelling went down, all the issues became obvious, my nose is pointing to the right, left nostril is much smaller than the right one, columella is not even, longer on one side..
Follow up appointment is in 2 weeks, I will post an update.

sending positive vibes .I had opposite reaction .I absolutely hated the way I looked at cast removal .My entire face was still swollen and I told him to tape it up immediately because I didn't want to look at it anymore. Now I like it more and more just under 30 days .I hope that he can fix it if it isn't a matter of uneven swelling .If not look at Jason Hamilton .He wasn't my doctor but I decided early on if I needed a revision I would be going to him. Hope it's just swelling

Give it time. My nose isn't perfect either but a major improvement over the original. I think a lot of it is uneven swelling that comes and goes... if you decide to consider revision down the road, I recommend Dr. Denenberg in Omaha. Take care.

I'm so happy for you, glad you are loving the way your nose looks. We would love to see some before and after photos, would you consider sharing some with the community? How was your recovery, did yo have lots of swelling and bruising?
