This is going to be an extremely long review, but I promise it will be worth the read for anyone considering rhinoplasty with Dr. Reish.
Choosing Dr. Reish as my surgeon: This is something I've wanted done for over a decade now and I had previously met with 2 other surgeons over the course of the past 3 years (we'll call them Surgeon 1 and Surgeon 2) prior to meeting with Dr. Reish in the summer of 2020. Surgeon 1 told me that I had a severely deviated septum. Surgeon 2 told me that I did not have a deviated septum, but instead had enlarged nasal turbinates. After expressing my insecurities with the tip of my nose (which was overly projected and drooping with alar retraction), I was told my both Surgeon 1 and Surgeon 2 that there was "simply nothing that could be done about that." I was extremely discouraged for over a year at that point until I found Dr. Reish on RealSelf. It sounds dramatic, but I swear I spent hours across several days and even weeks reading every single one of his reviews and looking at his before and after pictures and video updates on both his website and Instagram. I was shocked by how many noses like mine he had seemed to completely perfect (which, remember, I was told elsewhere from other surgeons that this was not possible *eye roll*). I immediately messaged Dr. Reish on Instagram to schedule a free virtual consultation. He texted me via his own personal cell phone number and FaceTimed me a few days later. I was absolutely blown away by how much clarity he was able to provide me during this virtual visit alone. He explained and showed me why yes, my septum is deviated and actually led to nasal valve collapse. He explained things using proper medical terminology (which made googling everything he was saying that I wrote down in my notes so quick and easy and aided my process of gathering information) and did not dumb things down, which I SO appreciated, but somehow did so in a way that makes complete sense to my non-surgeon self. I never once felt rushed during the consultation, and I knew that day that I had found the doctor for me for my rhinoplasty/septoplasty procedure (I cried the day I got the call to set the date, and I am NOT a crier by any means).
Pre-op/surgery day: Everyone from the office, including Dr. Reish, was outstanding answering my excessive questions (sorry but thank you all so much - you helped ease a very anxious patient's ruminating pre-operative nervous thoughts). The day of surgery was a breeze. Granted, everyone's experience is different at this point; However, Dr. Reish's anesthesiologist was the BEST anesthesiologist I've ever had (coming from my 26 year old self who has a lifelong history of motion sickness, and has ended up sick from anesthesia post-operatively after each of the 3 knee surgeries I've had over the past 10 years). I seriously woke up craving a Big Mac and large fries (my mom won't let me forget it) and remember just wanting to move on out of there to head home to sleep in my own bed for all of eternity (or at least the next few days). No nausea, no pain, and the most AMAZING nursing staff dream team I've ever had (thank you all so much!). I was in and out of recovery in about an hour and after a 1.5 hour car ride I was starving and immediately ate 2 cans of soup when I got home. To my surprise I could actually taste it, stuffy nose and all, which was an added bonus!
Post-op day1-day5: This was the easiest recovery process I have ever experienced. I have a high pain tolerance, so I didn't take the prescription pain meds except for at night because they helped me sleep. Even without them though sleeping was surprisingly a breeze. I slept upright with no problem (honestly I think I slept for 4 days straight - and when I wasn't sleeping I was eating lentil soup). Considering that I am one of those types of people who wakes up with random gnarly looking bruises without having a clue where they came from, I expected my bruising to be BAD. This couldn't have been more untrue. I had some slight yellowing in the corner of my eyes and under my eyes by day 3 (I'll upload a picture of what it looked like at its worst throughout the entire 6 days with the cast on) but that was it. Normal amount of swelling otherwise I'd say. I didn't have packing or splints so I was able to start breathing a little out of my nose by day 3 and by day 5 I woke up realizing I was actually not even breathing out of my mouth again. Tip: Biotene dry mouth spray and lip balm will be your best friends when you're nose is still stuffed and you're breathing out of your mouth.
Post-op day 6, cast removal day: I got my cast removed and stitches out yesterday and it was such a quick and painless experience thanks to Dr. Reish's amazing PA! As a healthcare worker myself, I can say hands down that this entire team has the best patient rapport I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Even though my nose is SO swollen right now, I'm thrilled with the results (I'll post pictures from this day, too). My incision site scars are already so minimal it's shocking! I'll be back in the office again in 2 months for another follow up once the majority of the major swelling has gone down and will update my review here with additional pictures then!
Overall: Dr. Reish is the BEST. His skill, attention to detail, and patient rapport is unparalleled. You just won't find anyone like him anywhere else and I whole heartedly believe that. Thank you Dr. Reish and thank you to your incredibly team! This has been the greatest experience ever and I'm so happy to have finally found a surgeon with your expertise and kindness. You have absolutely changed my life in the best way and I cannot thank you enough! If you're on the fence like I was for so long - I promise you, Dr. Reish is THE surgeon to go to. Best of luck to everyone else with their rhinoplasty journey!

I read your entire review. People like you are so helpful for being transparent about your experience. I would love to see your progress because we literally have the same before nose. I have never seen a nose so similar to mine. I'm scheduled with Dr. Reish for next year and I'm so excited! You look beautiful. Do you have an Instagram where you post updates or anything? If not that's fine.

Hi! This is exactly why I posted this and am so thrilled that you found this helpful. He really is the best. I don't post updates on my instagram but would be happy to connect on there to send weekly updates over these next 6 weeks as the majority of the swelling will go down if you'd like to send me your IG handle I will add you! I'll also definitely update my post on here with anything major especially after my December appointment! So excited for you and thank you for the kind words! Choosing Dr Reish was the easiest and best decision of my life.

Thank you so much for posting your review!! I am in the exact spot you were in - currently in the researching every review & photo for hours upon hours. I also consulted two different surgeons who told me completely opposite things to what Dr. Reish told me in my consultation. I know he’s the one who will perform my rhinoplasty - your thorough review just confirmed it. Thank you so much for sharing & your result looks natural and beautiful.

I'll be sure to post my pics once I'm 6 weeks out on here too once the swelling has gone down! It's amazing how Dr. Reish's experience shows through within minutes of talking with him. Best decision of my life. Wishing the best of luck to you! You are truly in the best hands.

Thank you so much for posting, you look so so beautiful! I've been searching for over 5 years trying to get the guts to go for it but. May I ask: about how long did it take to get a consult and then how long after were you able to have your surgery? Thanks again

Thank you! I messaged Dr Reish with my contact information via Instagram and we set up a FaceTime virtual consultation for a few days later. I was in the process of switching insurances a the time so my timeframe is a bit different than most; however, once that was taken care of and my prior authorization was completed my surgical coordinator called me to schedule. I received the phone call to schedule on August 27th 2020 and the first available surgery date open was October 21st, so I scheduled for then! I hope this helps!

What was diff about the anesthesia noe. I too suffer terrible motion sickness and vertigo and that is what is freaking me out most

In all of my other previous surgeries (non-septo/rhinoplasty) none of my anesthesiologists asked if I experienced motion sickness. Dr. Reish's anesthesiologist explained to me that this is highly related to post-anesthesia nausea etc., and it became clear right away based on the pointed questions he was asking how he was going to handle my case. He gave me something for nausea before surgery (pill), I think during (IV), and after surgery (pill) as well. In addition, when we were meeting prior to surgery, he decided to place a scopolamine transdermal patch on the skin directly behind my ear. This was done approximately 1-2 hours before the actual operation and I left it on for 3 days after surgery, as he explained it would help with any additional potential lingering nausea symptoms. I didn't even know that was a treatment option as I have never been offered that by any other anesthesiologist. He truly is the absolute best and the most knowledgeable anesthesiologist I've been treated by. He took such an individualized approach and was also SO nice and funny! He was cracking jokes left and right all the way to the OR (which he walked me to). All of that made me feel 100% confident and at ease trusting him with my care. His approach was noticeably effective. First time I ever woke up "with it" after anesthesia and did not experience any trace of nausea or other negative side effects whatsoever. As someone who can't do roller coasters, let alone long car rides, without feeling very sick, I was beyond impressed. I hope this helps ease any worries you may have :)
