Consultation Only
My review is for my consultation only. One thing I learned after meeting with dr dugar is rhinoplasty and any plastic surgery for the matter is a business. Plastic surgery is a business to many doctors and this dr surely is a business man. I met with him to address my concerns and he agreed with some but kept saying “you don’t need that” or “that won’t help you.” I met with 5 doctors who all but him said I need grafts for a collapsed valve and he said that will just make your nose wider. While I don’t want a nose larger than I currently have, I do Want the breathing issue repaired. In the end, I felt he is only confident doing “minor work” where change is so subtle it’s often not even noticed. What struck me was while I was doing my research, I came across a yelp review where a patient stated how she regretted having the surgery as there was no change to her look. She said yes she wanted to fix her breathing but an aesthetic change was also important. She said he told her the worst thing that could happen was “too little of change and im ok with that”. This tells me again he’ll only do what he feels comfortable doing and isn’t out to please his patients. Yes some people can ask for too much and it’s important he is honest and realistic. But A few weeks after her review, it was surprisingly gone. I too have the same concerns, don’t want a dramatic change but for the price I do want what I don’t like corrected. Yes it won’t be perfect but if I have a collapsed valve that is also impairing my breathing, I think it should be fixed. I also was bothered by the sales pitch, celebrity nose job. I’m not a celebrity nor do I want to be and i would rather go to a physician who understands that and truly cares about each individual patient, not just celebrities. I’ve booked my surgery with someone else in Beverly hills whom I felt was much more caring, took time to answer all my concerns and agreed with the problems I saw. Perfection doesn’t exist and I agree with that. But thankful there are some doctors who truly want to help people in need and are not just trying to promote a business or create a “brand”.
