Rhinoplasty June 2024
Dr Mehmet and his team are incredible in many ways. His also an ent specialist passionated about his medical field. Big important bonus. I was looking for an ethical surgeon who was a doctor first and his certainly is taking his time and doing the process in a timely order and patients are safe from the darker side of rhinoplasty based on mass production and business focus. I got to know him and his team before we started. Which I needed.
Dr Mehmet takes in revision cases from those who went though those unfortunate processes. Thats a big win. The morals. His assistent Yasmine, is a bright star and bilingual hence communication was a breeze and she is so well organised, thoughtful, responsible, listens and thorough. Yasmine is the first one I got in contact with and I got very well explained the medical processes, she organised hotel and driver.
I had two online consultations with dr Mehmet. Afterwards I went to beautiful tropic Izmir and met him in his office for a physical consultation where he made a simulation though a modern program planning everything using the golden ratio principe which measures the nose according to facial proportions. Their philosophy is "your nose, but better". Dr Mehmet is very gentle and uses the Piezzo technique with an open surgery for more vision. I had no brusing, no pain, a little bit of swelling. He makes natural noses. I had a rhinoplasty correcting my unsymmetrical nose bridge, made my nostrils smaller, fixed my deviated septum and breathing improved, removed the hump on my nose, made it shorter as it was droopy and did not have enough support and more narrow between my eyes. Not sure what that part is called. I was invited to their Instagram group chat about the anatomy and surgery techniques keeping me up to date with learning. That was so cool.
I was so lucky to have chosen this dr and his team was incredible. Never felt rushed and left with an amazing experience. Did lots of research beforehand. My hotel had such a comfy bed and breakfast included, clean and quiet. Went for walks in the park and also explored Izmir a little bit. The first four days I was pretty tired. I stayed one night at the hospital and the nurse took my blood pressure, gave me icing for my nose, antibiotics and pain killers and checked up on me during my whole stay. Izmir has a more chilled vibe than Istanbul and distances were not that far. After waking up from anesthesia I had the classical shivering of cold, which was the worst part, lasted 30 min and I got a thicker blanket and warm air.
After 3 days I visited the dr to remove the silicone pad and after 6 days I removed the cast. The day of the big reveal. Dr Mehmet is a nose genius and so gentle when removing silicone and cast, did not hurt. The team taught me how to do nose massages and filmed it for me to to back home. They taught me how to proceed with next fase, taping during night after approximately 12 days and gave me nose retainers to wear during night.
This dr is unique in various ways as max 2 patients per day, but not every day (important to prioritise having enough time to patients and not being on the run). He has low revision rate due to detailed planning coordinated with the patients desire in advance during office visit. The dr invested in a modern simulation programme for planning and loved that I got to see my future self in 3 d with my new the nose providing transparency and educational information. Feeling quite secure. My hotel was a 5 min drive to the clinic, super clean and neat. I was always informed beforehand and I could just relax and recover. The team was prepared and knowledgeable. The dr had prepared my medication and Yasmine explained everything.
Due to the timely order of the whole process I had no anxiety for the surgery and I got to talk to a previous patient as well. Communication for me was very important and did not want to rely on google translate, no patience for that as a patient. Yasmine is a native english speaker as well as Turkish and the dr speaks well english, so I had an uncomplicated experience. I left feeling so grateful for having this kind and pro doctor, ethical, authentic, humble and responsible. I hit the jackpot. And we are still in touch pre operation and will have a digital consulation in 3 months as I am based in Norway.
