Worst Experience Possible
I had a terrible experience. I had a functional septorhinoplasty and I was just hoping it would improve my breathing. It made my breathing worse and he completely destroyed my nose, which was far from perfect, but he somehow managed to completely destroy it. Everything was so unorganized from the beginning. At postoperative appointments he'd actually ask me what he'd done to my nose, he hadn't prepared for my appointments and didn't know. Originally I thought my breathing was better, but that was the swelling keeping my nostrils stiff and open. Once the swelling started to subside my breathing went back to being poor. He created a dent behind the tip of my nose which was actually getting worse for every appointment, something he should have noticed, but didn't. A friend pointed it out to me. I mentioned the dent several times and he finally acknowledged it and that it was cosmetic. He didn't acknowledge that he made the dent. The more the dent behind the tip collapsed the worse my breathing got . He stopped physically examining my nose by the 4th postoperative visit , but still insisted the structure was fine. There was lots of internal and external swelling at 10 months that for some reason he couldn't see. I had no problem with the appearance of my nose before the surgery, it was far from perfect, but I was ok with that. It's what he left me with that I'm not crazy about. He was actually pretty dismissive when I said my nose was lumpy, he said it was lumpy before. A little arrogant I think. You can see for yourself in the before and after photos. He actually said it was an improvement. He referred me to a colleague to possibly do a butterfly graft. When his colleague actually examined my nose he said the butterfly graft wouldn't help and he would have to redo everything Dr.Fialkov had done. That was a septoplasty and assorted grafts as well some other things he thought necessary. I understand these things are complicated and don't always go to plan. It's the complete lack of attention to detail and disorganization that really annoys me. I'm not super picky, but he really messed up. I actually cancelled my final appointment seeing there wasn't much point considering how adamant he was that everything was fine structurally and I didn't want to lose my temper. I wasn't gonna say anything originally, but I'm sick of always compromising and it's important that people know what they're getting into. Obviously he's not a terrible surgeon, but he was terrible for me.
