Reviews you can trust, from real people like you.
How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

15 mth update

At this point of the healing journey I can confirm all the deformities were caused by Katz’s outdated methods and techniques.
-Breathing is compromised.
-interrupted dorsal line (what I like to call half inverted V)
-external alar collapse due to cephalic trim and lack of supporting grafts.
- imaging confirmed 2 mm septum deviation and 2mm bone spur.
-asymmetric tip defining points
- two side profiles due to the his lack of attention to my tip cartilages
-alar retraction
-slimmer bridge , bulbous tip. Very bottom heavy and not proportionate at all!

There are more than a handful of people in the revision FB group with similar issues. He indeed was a money hungry surgeon like many out there. He made me believe at my 2 mth post up the asymmetry was swelling but when I received my pre surgery consult notes after he retired it clearly stated, “asymmetry of the tip will remain after surgery.” He also preformed an alar base reduction without making me sign paperwork as he made others sign. He failed to add it to my op note and I can’t forget to mention that 5 of us have the SAME EXACT op note. Only difference is the name and dob. He referred his patients to a surgeon that doesn’t even do rhinoplasty. Most patients didn’t even get a 2 mth post op with him before his abrupt retirement. If this doesn’t prove he was a horrible doc I don’t know what else will make you see the evil and incompetence that exists in the plastic surgery community. I’m glad he retired though! I lost 8k no refund of course and wish that if I waited 6 more months I would have been saved from him and this hell but I’m glad more people didn’t have to suffer under his care!

I wish he would have told me he was incapable of delivering a complete septorhino.
At no point did he look inside my nose and suggest I may need my septum fixed. Clearly he wanted to get a quick buck by just shaving off the hump and narrowing the bridge. He didn’t even do that correctly and ended up giving me an interrupted dorsal line. All an all I’m in complete regret of trusting my face and mental health to this man! Worst decision of my life. Thankfully I have invested 12 mths to therapy and can now accept and move on from this traumatizing event in my life. I am still unsure if I can ever submit myself to do a revision though. This procedure stole so much from me the first time and I don’t know that I can do it again. I would never wish the mental anguish, depression , anxiety, and self esteem killer to anyone. I’d wish I loved myself before committing to Katz OR I wish I’d trusted a much younger more competent surgeon at the very least. I believe in karma and I pray that one day I will find the happiness I deserve.

This is in no way meant to slander Dr Katz and his office staff. They were amazing and I wish them well now that the doctor is retired. Unfortunately, I was one of the unlucky ones that undergoes a rhinoplasty thinking life could only get better, but it definitely did not. I wish I had accepted my flaws instead of trying to change them. This post is to persuade anyone that comes across this heartfelt post to research as much as you can and talk to real life primary AND revision patients before you undergo irreversible procedures. It takes an emotional and mental toll that I do not wish on anyone. The depression is real!!! I'm happy for all the people that get their dream nose on the first go around. I did not know how common it was to come out with more irregularities than the ones you go in with even in the best hands.
I did not have breathing issues and now I struggle to breathe. This has caused me to have panic and anxiety attacks that I had to seek therapy for. My tip is very asymmetric that it is embarrassing to look anyone in the eye or go out in public. I have lost sleep and spent countless hours researching information on revision. Life is NOT the same! I am terrified to go through this procedure again as no one ever talks about the recovery process! It is not a walk in the park! Even if you do end up spending another 15-20k on a revision a year later it's not guaranteed to fix issues caused by a primary or that you won't need another one down the road. It really is a downward spiral.
This not meant to discourage anyone from surgery, but rather to bring awareness of the aftermath if things do not go well. It really is a risk!
I only saw Dr Katz for my 1wk post op and 8wk post op appt and he retired before my 6th month appt making matters worse and leaving me to figure out what went wrong on my own. Please be VERY selective on your surgeons. Wishing you the best of luck on your journey.
