I'm going in for a rhinoplasty on 1/3/19. I'm 41 and some people don't understand because I have had this nose for 41 years now. But, I feel like it's time as I'm starting to show age in my face and my nose definitely looks like it has grown!
I'm scared to death of the recovery process! I will post photos and a review of my doc after surgery.

I’m also 41 and my surgery is 1/3/19 as well! Good luck to you, I’ll look forward to your post!

Don’t be scared. I had rhino/septo on 4/18. I am 38. I was terrified. The worst part is the anxiety leading up to it. You’ll be fine. My nose also changed with age. It was the best decision I ever made.

The pain was not bad at all. My surgery was 4hrs. The worst part was the stents he placed in my nose. It was so uncomfortable. But it was only 2 day and they were removed.

Thank you all for your comments and well wishes! My biggest fear is the surgery is done under twilight sedation. I already have PTSD from previous surgeries, but I'm hoping this one will be smooth with zero awareness! I'll let you all know how it goes next week.

I think it's great they are doing it under twilight. Its much less taxes on the body to recover from than general anesthesia which actually impedes the healing process and screws up our hormones for a long time.

Good luck! I’m 38 and taking the plunge! My consults are Jan 3, 10 and 11. Hoping to do my surgery March. I will be watching for updates!!

Surgery tomorrow!

Tomorrow is the big day. I didnt think I would feel a little sad about saying goodbye to my nose that has been a part of me these past 41 years. But I am. I took a last photo so I can compare as I go through the healing process.

On another note, I came down with a chest cold but my doctor is not concerned, which I find to be odd. I'm sure it will be fine.

I really want Madchen Amik's nose. Even though it was considered large, I love it! I showed my doc and he said he thinks he knows what I want. I guess we shall see.

Such charismatic nose!! But still remind him if you want ur tip large or round etc!! Don't give him permission to do whatever he wants since I felt really bad cuz I let him. Anyways hope it suits u and u will be happy :))

I'm done! Just got home from surgery and my gosh. It could not have been a better experience. I was awake nearly the entire procedure but was given a mild sedative. No nausea. No pain. Came right home and started eating. I was scared for nothing!

Congratulations! Will you give us some idea of the procedure involved? I am quite interested to know how you avoided general anesthetic.

My doctor only performs surgeries on the face. He said twilight reduces nausea and swelling. He was so right. I was awake for the whole procedure, but all the shaving and cutting didnt hurt at all and though the surgery was 2 hours. It felt like 10 min. My doctor is absolutely amazing. They call him the plastic surgeon of oregon. Anyway, I came home fully alert, no nausea and he didnt use packing in my nose so I could still breathe a little. The worst part was the dry mouth i had all night for which i had to keep drinking water.

You had closed rhinoplasty??

No, it was open. I have thick skin and a bulbous tip but he said it was a breathe to work on me. No pain. No nausea. It was outstanding.

yay! So happy to here the wonderful news! And you look so woderful after your surgery! The surgeon surely must have been an artist and extra gentle and god's hands were guiding Him ! Each day will bring greater joy as you heal and have the nose you waited so patiently to have!

Yes! My anesthetist was a believer as well and she said she was praying for me. I'm so grateful to God that I dont have packing in my nose and I can breathe!

I am similar age to you, with a similar nose, considering surgery ( in the UK) . I found the right surgeon and I am contemplating surgery but as a Christian I feel like I will be doing something sinful and wrong ( as it's for vanity purposes) . I do have a breathing problem as well but having septoplasty and turbinates done will not change how my nose looks. How did you feel about this aspect? ( since from your comments it appears you are Christian as well
Thanks

I'm not sure if you've ever listened to pastor Charles Stanley, but I remember him saying if it was something that was causing you to dwell, just take care of it. If you dwell on it, it can become an idol in your life. I too felt like you because I am a Christian and I felt convicted about the money and changing the flesh God created, but I know doing the procedure has helped me to focus less on my appearance. I dont want to influence your decision either way...pray about it and see what God reveals to your heart.
